Lithuania will probably block Crimea/Ottos now. Try a day 0 on Cyprus once and see what happens.
Just play it normally and ally Poland. They are a lucky nation too now. You should be fine. Maybe. 
Looks like the Byzantines have lost their cores on Cyprus, Crete and Rhodes, just as a heads up.
The Ottomans are veryyyyyyy strong. I just lost a Byz game because Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Moldavia and Mazovia couldn't handle the Ottomans.
I haven't gotten a chance to try, but I noticed that the Ottomans build a TON of galleys now. Not good for the strait-blocking strategy.
Are you serious? That's ridiculous. Why not remove the cores on Adrianople, Monastir, Macedonia, Epirus and Trapezous as well? It's stupid enough for them not being the Greek placeholder. They should have cores on all Greek lands - even Kaffa.
Because people such as myself would abuse it.... Vassalize Byz and then use their reconquest CB against nearly everyone. Just a thought.
That makes no sense, if anything they should have gained cores over greek Crimea.
The rule is "cores on same culture provinces never expire" so it stands to reason anything Greek that BYZ ever owned should be a core.
Every patch has something nerfing Jake, or nerfing Byzantium, I will still play this game to try out the changes, but stuff like this is serious crap. I still play a lot of EU3, just look at the change, we used to have cores on basically all we do now and all of the Otto territory, now we have lost half of our cores from EU4?
I don't play Ironman most of the time, so first thing I am doing when I get home is adding them back in.
I don't care about abuses. This is just plain stupid. You want Rhodos or Cyprus back? Well, conquer some turkish land first. You can't fabricate a claim on those islands any other way! The best thing is that you'll now have NATIONALISM in Rhodos and Cyprus if you conquer them. Which basically means the people there will HATE YOU for driving off the Iberian/Catholic and French/Catholic oppressors.

Galley-strategy is useless now, Ottomans have like 60 ships (around 40 galleys) when the first defensive war breaks out.

It's stupid because they almost certainly have not fixed the Purple Phoenix missions. If they have, then that's fine, we will at least get claims as we accept the appropriate missions, but this issue has been outstanding since 1.2 and they haven't fixed it yet, so probably it just won't work at all. Why do they hate Byz? I don't freaking get it.
That's actually a completely dishearting nerf to Byzantine. No more day 0 wars on Cyprus or anything, making the entire thing substantially harder.
I actually was practicing my Byzantine start so I could play it multiplayer with some friends, but this assuredly puts Byzantine back in to the "abuse broken game mechanics or bust" category.
It's not even about that, I never did that, but it was like a reward to see your income dip into the negative and realize that, oh, I got Cyprus and 32 regiments heh
I don't know, I just suppose for joyous Byz I can play EU3, heck, I still like that game more than EU4, but I will give this patch some chance playing in Europe proper.
Would have been nice to have added an event/decision that gave your cores back in those regions after taking your current non-cores.
