(1.8.1) Austria/Brandenburg opening+longterm strat

Hi!

Any opening+longterm strategy suggestions for Austria and/or Brandenburg? I feel like playing a diplo HRE game during a 3player 2day LANgame
Is Brandenburg/Prussia military still as strong as befor the expansions? How many years does it approximately take to get the OP military edge with the NIs?


Also:
I haven't played EU4 since the expansions, just bought CoP+WoN+RR. I'm still waiting on more info about AoW. Is it stable stable enough yet for multiplayer?
Are there any important new mechanics since EU4vanilla I have to know about to play the game efficiently? (i.e. local autonomy, trade, peace options,...)

Yes, and Brandenburg starts getting OP at their third NI (second idea group, admin 7) and really takes off with their 5th and bonus (third idea group, admin 10).

If your opponents are wise they'll squash you before you even take Pomerania.

If you want a dip-focused HRE game then Austria is a better choice. Choosing Bburg is like hanging a target on your chest.
