I posted this before on the main EUIV, but the answers users posted made the problem even more baffling, which is why I'm reposting it here.
As I said before, i recently bought the game, optimized the settings for my computer and started a new game. I chose the Ottoman Empire and the "rise of the Ottoman Empire" time period, but button "Start" didn't show up. Some people have speculated that this is because a Steam pop-up blocked the button, but I have no way of verifying this as the game now doesn't work period. Not knowing what to do, I closed EUIV and started it up again, this time it quit responding before it could even start loading to the main menu. I restarted the game several times but to no avail. I thought with all the complaining about 1.8, that it could'v been a result of the patch. I downloaded the beta patch and started it up once again. No change. I downgraded to 1.7.3, no change. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. No change. I do not know what to do at this point. Please help.
