So after seeing a post if "the contingency is now the only crisis?" I went through the event and I am pretty sure soemthing went wrong when those factors were written.

All start with a base weight of 10 plus 120 for nothing. But it really is the factors that break it.

Scourge has x24 if we somehow managed to go 110 years (55 check intervalls) without another Crisis.

Extradimensionals have x4 for Psi Jumpdrive and x1.5 for Wanderlust Chain for a total of x6

Contingency:
Having a default Machine Empire with 300+ pops is x72
Having a default Empire with 75% Synths (Technological Ascension) is x108
And x1.5 if you also have the FE Machine Intelligence

So the weights can stop at around these numbers:
240 - Swarm
60 - EDI
116.640 - Contingency
120 - Nothing

I feel as if a maximum weight of 116.640 is a way out of whack. More so as we can have it fullfilled the first time that check actually runs..

Pdox should balance multipliers for different branches.
The Contingence have x1.5 if there is a machine intelligence empire with more than 99 machine units. EDI should have a similar multiplier that can be reached in a comparable time. For example, it should have x1.5 multiplier if there is an empire with a jump drive and fleet power above 100k or something like that. Same thing for the Swarm.

While it's just anecdotal, I have a friend who has played a lot since the release of synthetic dawn. After reading this, I have asked him, and he told me he got the contingency 4 times out of 4 games.

Please paradox, adjust the weights of the different crises. Something like this is effectively a bug, because you are likely never to see the other crises.

Actually, in the interest of variety, I'd just go with equal probability for every crisis whose requirements are met...

Oh by the way, perhaps the title should be changed to reflect that this also happens with the opt-in patch.

As i see it, u ever get the contingency, if u have the synthetic dawn dlc. If u dont have it, the chances for every crisis to spawn are even. So deactivate synthetic dawn if u want to get rid of perma contingency spamming. The machine FE, u almost ever get in huge maps and 4 FE activated alone is enough to trigger it. And a single machine empire or machine uprising, that lives too Long or succeeds dooms u to get the crisis.

Pretty much that. They wanted ot make it more likely with Synthethic Ascension or Synthethic Dnaw Features. They just horribly messed up the Factors.

Just doing some math: If we turned all teh weight factors to 1.5, the weight would only go up to 38.443 wich is much closer in line with the other ones.

I think this is only the case since they want to fully test out how the contingency will play out apart from the testing made by their QA. It will be adjusted in the upcoming patches. Hopefully.

Before all we get is the Unbidden. TBH, after more than 400 or so hours. I have yet to get an actual Prethoryn invasion since 1.0.

The factors have been nerfed in 1.8.1 so that the maximum weight is now 1404. That's still disproportionately large, though, and the contingency is by far the likeliest to fire if there are any machine or synthetic empires present, which is fairly likely.

There just don't need to be so many specific modifiers. If they reduced it to simply the 2x modifier for a synthetic empire, 2x for machine empire w/ 300 pops, and 1.2x for a machine fallen empire it would correspond much better to the unbidden with a lower maximum weight of 48, but a higher likelihood of going above the base 10.

The prethoryn should also be changed, the simple yearly modifiers take too long to kick in. Even without any modifiers the odds of a crisis firing are 1/5 per 5 year cycle and it takes 8 cycles before the prethoryn get any modifiers. If you throw in the much heavier weighting the Unbidden and Contingency can get it makes the Scourge very unlikely.
