I just made my first sector in Utopia/Banks.

One planet with 5 pops.

Immediately I get +5/month extra food for my stockpile.

I tried disbanding the sector, to see what would happen.

The extra food/month is immediately lost.

So the conclusion is that those pops are not eating any food. or am I wrong?

Is this a bug or working as intended?

By the way, the planet produces no food of it's own.

Yes, and I just tried again.
Also tried letting more months go by, and disbanding and recreating the sector multiple times.
It does take a new month for it to update the food production, when creating the sector, but it's still +5.
I'm effectively producing 25.93 food for 25 pops and somehow getting +5.93 food per month.

I also tried restarting the game of course.

I was wondering about this as well. In my current game, I'm about 60 years in with 6 planets (2 in sectors, 1 planet per).

My 4 core worlds have this food production:
Capital: 14 Food
World 2: 0 Food
World 3: -2 Food
World 4: -4 Food

My Sectors are like this:
Sector 1: 0 Food (in the Planets and Sectors page)
- World 5: -5 Food

Sector 2: 0 Food
- World 6: -6 Food

My Global Food (top bar) is listing as 1000+7 (at cap). Breakdown in tooltip is:
- Monthly Gain: +7.55
- Pitharan Dust: +10%
- Produced: +7.55

Look at the math, my food should be in the negative:
14 -2 -4 -5 -6 = -3

So my guess is that it is only counting my Core Worlds (since both sectors are showing 0 Food overall, even though they should be negative):
14 -2 -4 = 8

This leads me to conclude that sectors are bugged and not consuming food (at least not reliably), as every once in a while I will notice the sector food numbers swap to what they should be (negatives), but the next month they jump back to 0.

I can confirm this bug,

Sectors show food outpot 0, but by the fact they have -10 and -6 on each planet.

Some period they begin to show real numbers, but then it's going bacl to 0 again

I noticed any negative food in sectors seems to reset to 0 at the end of the month. If it's positive it doesn't seem to do this. If you give them resources it updates (until the end of the month)
