Do you have the On Demand version McGib?

I just bought the OnDemand version and am having the same problem (I couldn't find my disc to uninstall and reinstall). The OnDemand version is v1.2, not 1.3. This needs to be fixed pronto, or I will demand my money back as I thought I was downloading the latest version. It is advertised as being the latest version. There are laws in the US against false advertising, and it should have been very easy to make sure that the latest version was there.

Normal/normal as Germany from 1936. 1938 and the Czechs don't give up. So I go for war - they have no alliances. The same day the Czechs offer to surrender, the British declare war. Thank god I didn't go for the industry first strategy otherwise I would be deep in the doo-doo as Poland has also just cancelled its non-aggression treaty.

I've never seen this kind of response on Normal aggressiveness before unless I went on a mad rampage. Fun game, but I'm not fancying my chances as I am nowhere near ready to take on the Poles, never mind France and Britain.

edit: also seen Mengkukuo for the first time. Rather impressive for Japan to liberate it.

If I were you I'd be really worried about defending my airspace effectively. Apparently bombers are deadly this time around. Good luck! You'll need it.

I'm pretty sure you can install the 1.3 patch over version 1.2. There should be no problems in that department. But then again, this could indeed be a problem....

By the way, isn't it strange having the on-demand version? What if you have to format or your harddisk crashes? Won't you have to buy the game again? Or can you just download it again?

Ah I just got home after a 10 hour day and am downloading the patch as I type this.

Seeing the patch release when I first sat down at work made it a long day at the grindstone.

I am so glad they fixed the no military access teleport bug. I am going to play the USSR in my first game so I can squish the germans in the low countries. Hehehehehe

Thanks!

You can't install over 1.2. it says you dont have the game installed and the installer closes.

You can re-download your on demand version anytime. You get a password etc. I tried to buy a store copy to get the patch to work... but they were all sold out.

There really is no excuse for this, not having the latest version for sale on line. I expect someone from Paradox/Ztron to come in over the weekend and fix this, as this is a very large error that cannot be allowed to stand over the weekend.

Germany won't build strat bombers. I remember reading either Lothos or Johan saying it was a late change because it didn't quite work when they did build them.

First impressions (Germany 36 h/f - presently rampaging through the Balkans in 12/39):

Launched a successful COUP in Romania. With the "coup" minister most minors showed a 12% or so chance of coup success (this seems about right)

Still some 1-ship "fleets" kicking around but naval task forces seem overall better.

Still had Republican Spain hold out in the Pyrenees with 3 divisions total between 2 provinces and the Nationals not attack till I allied and MC'd them.

Poland seemed a LITTLE more difficult. Same with Yugoslavia.

Did not experience problems with USSR trades as some have reported.

Created a "big" Axis from pretty early on (got Turkey with some difficulty in '37) and none of my minor Allies has YET to build a useless garrison division in his capital. (Many thanks for this improvement, by the way.)

France garrisoned the border of Axis Spain somewhat, but not completely. UK still leaves Gibraltar weakly-defended with 15 Spanish divisions massing nearby in August '39. This is all certainly moddable, though.

Allies are pounding the holy hell out of my industry. In the future I definitely build significantly more INT.

Overall, early indications are a thumbs-up from me. I am still annoyed at the no-range-limit AI crap for air and naval but accept this as intrinsic to this game engine.

Thanks P-dox for your hard work and for putting up with complainers like me and about 800 others during the wait for 1.3.

Things ive noticed, the Americans seem to be very very cautious, they cant seem to make more then 2 infantry divisons together i havent seen any larger stacks then 2 together. But they will amass numbers like 120+ divisons vs 8 on the other side and STILL NOT ATTACK...

for example...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v348/Sunfighter/usa4.jpg

They been sitting there for almost a year now. 10 months + to be exact. They could of been all the way to Rome by then because there is maybe 10 divisons in Libya after these front lines ones and thats it...so um...whats the American AI being so cowardly for? because as you can see by the flags...its all 64+ divisons of 1 infantry each...is that screwing up its calcuations because the italian divisons are all together..

PS...that spanish sub as been out in that sea square since the end of the spanish civil war :D

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have added a huge amount of my own events, those from stoney road, TRP, and SMEP, plus i played with the unit names list, and the scenario files, and the minister files.

i downloaded the 1.3 patch and before i installed it, i made copies of the folders for the files that i wanted to keep and add them back after the patch install. i thought i would be protecting my beloved additions (which amounted to days worth of scouring mods and my own mind to make them work) only to find out when i went to copy and paste everything back in....almost all of the info in my copies was magically updated to the new patch level!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN!!!! i put these copies in my documents to try to leave them free. now i have to scour all over again to get my stuff back!!!!!!!!

DAMN!

DAMN!

i am so mad right now...but i do not even want to take out my aggression on the soviets until i find a way to get some of my stuff back.

i am not sure when i will finally get a chance to play this new patch!

argh!

So far I have not made it past 1938 without crashing.

I played as republican spain, CRASH! 1938

I played as Hungary, CRASH! 1937

I played a hands off game as persia, CRASH! 1937

All I've done is added my own graphics, no other mods, and the first crash with republican spain occured before I'd added any graphics or anything at all.

BAH!

I think...it may have something to do with how much is happening at once. For example, when Japan goes crazy and starts Dwing every chinese faction with a period of 3 days, then it seemed to crash.

Other times, when I'm engaged in many wars it crashes.

I don't know why it crashed when I was playing Persia. I didn't do anything.

BAH!

This is a total hands off cuba game btw..As you can see other then those 8 italian divisons, the USA has NOTHING after them to worry their 120+ divisons, yet they do nothing but sit there, even on reloads. Germany and Russia hare having a nice hard fought war, as you can see germany broke through in the south and now threatens moscow from the east..haha. It is 1943 late summer so its not like they broke through fast. The "aggresive" hungry has expanded well as you can see lol. Italy did a nice job in Egypt and the Suez. Iraq is on the allies side still from the coup event, but has a peace treaty with all the axis. Lebeonon and Syria are members of Vincy but vincy wont join the axis even though they are at war with the allies.

And yeah...the Czechs....welll...Germany decided to honour the munich agreement, but later on couped them, so the Czechs are a facist country...but are not currently part of the axis, and they have been reduced to that lil nub of a country in the green you see there hahaha.

i'm actualy restarting a game because i got used to underestimate air power with 1.2... yes the ai bombed me into submission (kept me at 40-50 ic pts below my highest level and buchered my int/ftr squadrons). the enemy's navy is avoding my usual traps, the trade ai actualy offering some good deals (they all want my energy...bastards take some iron !) and ground combat is more difficult so yes THANK YOU PARADOX !!

and too bad i got a huge exam tommorow :(

First of all, play Germany on Normal/Normal (I guess, I don't know how to change the difficulty levels)

I installed the 1.3 patch right over the 1.2 (no uninstall of 1.2) and I had some customized icons. They all passed fine, and all seems to be working fine.

On trading -

I love that I am being offered more complex deals now. It's not just resource 'a' for resource 'b' anymore, it's mix of all kinds of things. Trades are also not quite as long lasting. Instead of many of them seemingly running forever, I seem to be getting many more that run for a while, then are cancelled as the country offers me a slightly different deal within a day or so....

On events -

I took out Hungary, and for the first time in a long time (well, playing 1.2) Italy did not DOW me. When Munich came up, annexed, then did the partition with Hungary, and voila, there was Czech back in the provinces that would have been Hungarian....

Seems as though the trigger to France and Poland attacking you is much more sensitive than before. Was very few times that they hit me before Danzig even when I was being a brute, now have been hit twice in three tries with attacks only on Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Romania....

On Ministers

I'm having fun moving from minister to minister as I feel I need different things researched. Trying to time out the research so the switchovers are made right before the dissent negating events. It actually is making a difference, though which is nice and brings a lot of the other ministers into play (especially, it seems early on, the +5% IC, +10% industrial research ones).

on Gameplay -

So far, the AI is interesting. Seems as though the Hungarian unit strength was ramped up - not quite as much as a total walkover as before.

I still wonder why, if Danzig was so important as to go to war over, why it is never defended. I know that the AI looks at it and says that anything that goes in there will get crushed, but it makes the event seem rather silly to me if they let you take it without the least fight.....

Fleets seem to be acting much better, as they seem to be better spread out and in more startegic positions (playing with the fog of war, so can't verify this).

Air units do seem to be much more important, and interceptor/fighter production as Germany seems to be a must, especially if the Allies will go to war easier than they did before (see above).

Haven't had my first big battle sending the U-boat fleet (type IXs) on Naval Combat missions yet. It will be interesting to see how they do - if they will still wind up sinking significant capital ships or if they will get wiped out....

Great work guys. I see many more hours of just trying to figure out the nuances.....

Problems with China/Japan events:

(Not sure if it's already been posted, so forgive me if it is.)

Early in the game Japan can demand a province, Xilinhot, from Manchukuo. In my game, Manchukuo accepted, and Xilinhot became Japanese.

In June 1936, Guangxi didn't declare war on me. Perhaps it was because my troops were piled on its borders... so I manually DoWed Guangxi. No belligerence, because it's entirely in my national territory. After Guangxi is annexed (July 1936), Japan immediately DoW. This should be WaD because it said so in the patch readme. OK. Fast forward to April 1937, and Korea is being freed from the oppressive grasp of the Japanese. This is where stuff begins to go wrong.

1. When my troops were at the Korea-China border, Uncle Joe decided to send me some supplies in Operation Zet. March 1937.
2. Almost immediately after this, Chairman Mao and the who-knows-what in Xinkiang suddenly decides to form the United Front. (Yunnan was already in; I annexed Shanxi early on.)

Republic of Korea is formed, Japan secedes its provinces in China, including Taiwan.

3. Xilinhot (1386) remains Japanese. The event makers probably forgot the earlier event that gave it to Japan.
4. Jeju (1194) (the Korean island) becomes NatChi. Never even been occupied by me. Event makers probably gave it to NatChi to give it to Korea, but didn't do the latter part.
5. If Japan had annexed any warlord at all, it probably wouldn't be given back to China.

That's all my complaints for now.

EDIT:

6. Japan is still at war with Yunnan and ComChi.

EDIT 2:

7. Pics for some NatChi tech teams seem to be missing. Also, I don't see any new pics for units...

I've just seen something very strange... Communist China grabbed quite a lot of provinces before the peace event returned them all, but they still control Guyan, owner Xibei San Ma, even though they are at peach with its owners. I have a save if you want it.

I've just seen something very strange... Communist China grabbed quite a lot of provinces before the peace event returned them all, but they still control Guyan, owner Xibei San Ma, even though they are at peach with its owners. I have a save if you want it.
Very strange. In my game I allowed ComChi to take lots of land from Xibei San Ma to get them to vacate their home provinces, and almost suceeded in getting their last VP when the Xi'an Incident event popped. Everything was back to status quo, Xibei Sanma had what they had to start with.
