I've had the game for a 3 or 4 weeks now and after starting with some of the smaller countries like Norway I'm now comfortable and enjoying some of the major players. In that time a few things surfaced that I hope might get some attention:
Maps: More contemporary looking maps i.e. topo overlay maps for terrain and better graphical representation of the maps used during ww2. The current cartography looks more like circa 1736 than 1936. Perhaps doing away with provinces, just have country borders with their respective industrial centers identified within.
Coast Watchers, Recon Units: Self Explanatory.
Navies: Naval and air combat arguably take a back seat to land combat (p.88). Well that argument is over, they do. As an example, submarines seem to be handled in a bizare way. I could be missing something but submarines appear to be handled more like a surface units in both flotilla formation and function. While land units can be assigned into a specific province for a specific purpose, naval units cannot. If you want to assign a flotilla to guard a harbor entrance they are required to cover at least 3x that area depending on the sea zone. I've had the Germans land in Bergen after having assigned a fleet to protect against just such a move only to have the assigned fleet several hundred miles offshore. Not saying my meagre fleet would have stopped the onslaught but at least they would have slowed them down a bit. This goes back to the coast watcher suggestion, you would think someone would notice a invasion force sitting a couple miles offshore.
I hate my first post is critical of a few issues, I'm really enjoying the game and looking forward further support for the game or another generation of hoi.
