Last night I stopped just before the end of Jul 1941, since I was losing my navy in the Pacific. Went back to the start of July and reset some of the production, air force wings and moved another navy to Singapore. Saved and went to sleep. Loaded it this evening with the 1.3.2 patch.
So, I decided, since I had naval control of the Mediterranean, I would invade Dodecanese (Italian). Almost immediately Italy declared on Greece through Albania, which it owned. It had not done that yesterday, so either the patch or a random chance fired. Yugoslavia and Bulgaria are still neutral. Greece obviously joined the Allies.
I started to move two armies from the UK to Greece. No problem, since I pretty well own the European seas. But I kept on getting convoy attack reports, like this. So far, about 15 through the Channel and Biscay areas, only one which showed a German plane. Mostly, just no UK against UK convoys.
Of course, Greece then managed to remove the Italian army in Albania and now owns it. Then i saw that it was moving divisions across the Med, and not in a 'good' route - between Sicily and Italy, and between Sardinia and Corsica. About the worst route you could think of, and the AI should know better than that.
So I looked to see where they are going -- to the UK and Norway, with attacks set against Brittany, Belgium and Holland, and Denmark.
So, why not against Italy? It has to be said that a lot of the Italian army is in NW Europe, covering while Germany is invading Soviet, and failing to invade Norway. But that would Italy an easier target, and one that I am planning on taking.
This also raises the issue of how to control armies from multiple players. In a MP game one can co-ordinate what you are doing with the other human players in your faction, and other factions. But when the other players are AI how can you 'control' what they are doing. Presumably the same should also be an issue between AI players in the same faction.
Maybe you don't want or need to do that, but then we had joint operations between UK and USA, and the colonies in the Pacific.
