I have mentioned this in the AI thread, but I thought it would be worth posting as a separate bug with a saved game.

I'm playing as Italy in 1.3.1 beta, and after the capitulation of France, Germany has put a large number of divisions on the border with Nationalist Spain but has left the coast of France almost completely undefended.

Given the other reported issues with the Allies invading Italy too easily, it appears there may be a general problem with the AI failing to defend its coastline.

(Also, Vichy France was not created, not sure if this is intended or if it's just something that the AI sometimes decides differently.)

Edit... hmm attaching the save didn't seem to work, let's try again

I experience the same, the AI is handling coastal defence poorly, making it hard to enjoy the game fully.

Observations:
Germany and Italy as AI nations are doing a poor job protecting their territory against naval invasions. (Iam sure it is true for other nations as well).

Germany:
After conquering France the Allies will soon launch naval invasions on the french coast.
The coast is not protected and Germany is not responding fast and hard enough to this threat.

Forces are being moved towards the invasion area with initial success, but the german divisions are directed elsewhere before the invading forces are rejected completely - thus the Allies gain foothold in europe in 1939/1940.
If the initial naval invasion is rejected Germany/Italy removes all forces from the coast and a new invasion will follow shortly.

Italy:
Soon after the fall of France, the Allies will start naval invasions on the italian main land.
Italy does not keep enough forces in Italy to defend.
The Allies gains foothold and takes Rome easily while Italy has plenty forces, but elsewhere.

Solution suggestion:
The AI must give larger importance to protecting against naval invasions and protecting strategic important areas (and/or naval invasions must be much harder to plan and execute).

In regards to realism it seems too easy to launch a naval invasion in the game.
The AI uses naval invasions far more often than was tried historically.

I know AI is a very complex part of the game, but hope these issues are adressed soon.
