1.29.1 Can't change game refresh rate from 25Hz

I used to be able to run EU4 at 144Hz refresh rate on my BenQ XL2430T monitor, but now in the game settings the refresh rate always stays at 25Hz, even after I set it to 144Hz then restart. Why does it keep displaying 25Hz in the settings? The monitor itself is set to run at 144Hz.

Did you try to run the game in borderless fullscreen? That could help.

Actually run the game in fullScreen (if not already), and set the refreshRate in both the game's new launcher and in the game's own settings.

How do you set the refresh rate in the new launcher? I don't see that option in the eu4 launcher. Interestingly, the Imperator launcher has a refresh rate setting when you deactivate vsync, but the eu4 launcher doesn't show a VSync setting for me

I must be getting the launchers confused, sorry. No refresh rate in the eu4 launcher.

I don't want to use Vsync, as want to be able to use the full 144Hz refresh rate of my monitor. GPU is an Nvidia GTX 970M.

I can't guarantee that but it runs at 60hz perfectly fine for everyone else ... why yours is stuck on 25 I'm not sure!

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/EU4/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/EU4/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

This seems to have worked - the refresh rate is now showing as 144Hz in game. Are there any downsides to running the game in borderless fullscreen?

Still can't get it to work for "normal" full screen, though.
