I've just tried this. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have triggered anything. I'm in the open beta, with the highest priority to update the game. After the validation, I restarted Steam.
You should not be on any beta branch if you want the newest patch. And for that matter AFAIK we have no currently active open beta?
If you want to play the base game without any beta you should select "None - Opt out of all beta programs" Should be at the very top

Hey i can no longer take Calais or Pale during the french reconquest of british lands because "out of coring range". I can kinda understand pale, but Calais? Also i don't see anything about this in the patch notes. What gives?

France no longer Guarantees Scotland at game start. Brittany is not allied to Burgundy, either (although I suppose I'm not certain whether that was a starting alliance or just one that always appeared early on).

removed Ottoman cores on Candar and Karaman. that is the third changing on Ottoman cores. so please make a decision.
Shah Abbas I? It doesn't look all that much like his portraits, but the clothes suggest the greater Perso-sphere - Iran, Afghanistan, or a Persianized dynasty in India like the Moguls. Abbas is the most prominent leader in the time period. I think the buildings are Isfahan.

When I load a custom nation setup I get this error: "Failed to get Custom Nation settings. The file is corrupted."
Yea like @BYteacher said : something wrong with the custom nations...Got the same problem tho even when i create new one i cant play it because "File is corrupted"
Before the update I erased all custom nations setups, so it's all about 1.23/CoC.
Why do some people think that the Ottoman Empire became weaker. The only thing I saw, it only

There seems to be a bug that keeps AI from annexing vassals (might only be for more than one vassal)
