I got a different govt by event. One that I am not happy with as all other option via change govt list were worse in terms of absolutism.

Is there a way to switch to one that has more absolutism? Something like revolutionary empire or republic would be preference.

My event list only give me option for theocracy which doesn't have access to revolutionary anything I think.

what about the switch-government-button (left of the republical hat) on the picture you posted?

They are Oligarchy/Admin/Constitutional Republic. They all have -30 to absolutism and oligarchy is -50. I may have to tank my republic tradition hmm.

Rev isn't going to work so well for a new world nation, so he's mostly stuck with this or monarchy, though w/o re-election getting RT low won't be trivial.

Bureaucratic Republic Ruler do not get "re-elected" at each time period instead they only get elect if the current ruler dies which is awful long depending on RNG.

So I am going to repeatedly tank my republic tradition until I switch to monarchy.

Did you already get the +20 from Court and Country? If so you can get to the 100 absolutism cap without having to switch back to a monarchy:
65 base + 20 C&C + 5 great power + 5 Empire + 5 100% Religious Unity.

Per the image above, that government apparently has +5 like despotic monarchies so he could get to 105 (> 100 is meaningless, but some extra padding is nice).

The +5 is just part of being Empire rank, there's no intrinsic bonus.
BD is the -20 stab -0.1 autonomy; Empire rank is the remaining +1 diplomat, +1 leader, +10 states, +5 absolutism, -10 nat focus.

Ah ok, so it's like rev or horde but without the CB/ability upsides of those. Still doable but not ideal. I used to like this government more than monarchies, but with disinherit generic despotic is probably better.

I made good progression toward doing First come first service. It is now officially finished along with 3 other achievements.

I decide to stop trying to get 100% absolutism as it was more trouble to keep it up and try to get other govt.

No matter what I keep tanking my Republic Tradtion each chance I got. It stay stubbornly above 65-70 no matter what... I even spam the Estate that cost you some republic tradition as soon it was available. I finished 4 achievement with 84 Republic Traditions which suck for switching back to monarchy.

Lesson learnt. Bureaucratic Republic is good for "internal stability" however for absolutism it suck.

I am thinking of starting a new campaign aiming for a Prussia since that unique govt has bonus to absolutism (+10).

Cant you just give stuff to the aristocrats and get the coup that changes to noble republic, then curb it and change to despotic monarchy?

The last time I had tiny bit over 100% OE.

Rebels were ALL over the place including a 4 unit Alaska Protugal CN rebel that was just 30 month away from breaking off. I was in South America preparing for another war only to pull short of declaring another one. It seem odd that some province do indeed contribute to OE while some don't.

I don't really think I can micro-manage rebel well enough to trigger that. Nevermind I only had 40 years left. It might be easier to form Prussia to get +10 absolutism and build from there.

There is also a Prussia event giving you +20 absolutism on top of that.

That is already 65 + 5 religious unity + 20 event + 10 govt bonus = 100. No need for golden age or Empire rank or even court and country disaster because those would end up as "extra" padding.

There is no rebel micromanaging involved to change to despotic monarchy. It's just about timing a diet+general so that they end one month after the nobles seize power, letting the noble seize power, curtailing one month later, and you become a despotic monarchy from any government (except those without estates, or Poland which is locked from doing so).
