I'm not a fan though of the way i don;'t have access to all construction industries, even when the private sector isn't using it.

And i ABSOLUTELY HATE that the construction icons have been taken away. I did not realise just how useful that was, and how much i relied on it, till it was gone.

The construction icons caused a good degree of game lag, so it was ultimately best to put them down. As for construction industry access, not being able to use what the private industry isn’t seems like a bug.

How do the icons cause lag? they are on the map. i cant imagine how showing them in another place as well causes lag.

As for the construction, its part of the laws. interventionism gives me access to 50% of construction.

How, no idea. And until it`s fixed we`ll just have to live without.

If you don`t like this you can revert to the old system in the game rules.
I don`t know if it`s a bug or feature, but it seems unfun either way and should be changed if it`s a feature.

If the private sector is not using all its 50%, you should be able to use what they are not using and vice versa, I think. But it seems it is a bit bugged. Sometimes doesn’t work well, but most of the times it does.

This is such a weird thing to me because after the first decade my construction queue is so full of buildings I can't tell what any of the icons are anyway.

I can tell from the edge what it is lol and its more to remind me where i am in what i queued up. the icons on the map are ok, but you only get one per state, with no indication how many buildings there are at the same time.

What's all this discussion about icons? I see buildings icons both in the map and the construction queue in the beta.
In 1.1.2 there was a list of all the currently constructed buildings in the top right. You could see when those textiles you queued up hours ago actually started to be built at a glance and from any screen. Opening the construction queue and finding the page which is being built is more work. The buildings on the map disappear in many mapmodes and zooms.

I can't see why generating that info ever week would be a performance hit (plus it would be generated when you click buttons in the construction queue, but it's being generated then anyway to display the construction queue).

Ah yes that’s right, didn’t remember it. I guess I didn’t pay too much attention to it.

I don’t know maybe they eliminated it because now with the two queues it was confusing.

I found the one on the far right was always visible. Mouse overing the ones in the middle could also give a quick idea of where my queue was at (oh, that was the 50 silk plantations I queued up).

In 1.1.2 there was a list of all the currently constructed buildings in the top right. You could see when those textiles you queued up hours ago actually started to be built at a glance and from any screen. Opening the construction queue and finding the page which is being built is more work. The buildings on the map disappear in many mapmodes and zooms.

I can't see why generating that info ever week would be a performance hit (plus it would be generated when you click buttons in the construction queue, but it's being generated then anyway to display the construction queue).

It was a ridiculous thing to claim, and has this guy on my "ignore as they talk bollocks" list.
The devs said very large construction queues were one of the main causes for bad perf in the late game, and they were working on it. Then they removed this component that generates enormous numbers of UI elements which are always on the screen when there’s a large construction queue. I think it’s a pretty good bet the two are connected.

As to why it was causing an issue, at the risk of being accused of bollocks-talking, I would guess it’s almost certainly not about generating the list of construction items but about displaying an interactive icon for each of them. The construction screen is different because it doesn’t try to display the entire queue all at once.

The icons definitely were the cause of the lag, which is why the UI is now limited to showing only 10 icons from each queue.
