I have no idea whether or not this was actually changed by the last patch, but I picked up on it after someone mentioned restoring Byzantium as the Ottomans and being stuck with Ottoman ideas.
The decision to restore the Byzantine Empire, viewable in decisions/RestoreByzantineEmpire.txt, doesn't include the line "swap_free_idea_group = yes", which strikes me as a problem. It's simplicity itself to mod in, but that still leaves it out of ironman, which is undesirable. In the highly unlikely event that some Greek Orthodox state (Athens, perhaps) managed to survive the destruction of Byzantium and become powerful enough to revive it, is it really WAD that they possibly be stuck with generic national ideas? That really doesn't seem at all appropriate to me. Something to add to the next hotfix, maybe?
