So I'm a huge empire and every state that boarders me is in a huge defensive pact so that I can't war one of them without them all jumping in.
Suddenly enemy A drags his friend B into war with C, D is dragged into the war because he has a pact with A and C, but because C is the one being attacked he joins on Cs side. So A and B are now at war with C and D.
But C and Ds defensive pacts are still there for A and B. So even though they're at each others throats trying to take each others stuff, I still can't attack one of them without all 4 jumping to his aid. The only thing I've got going for me is that this new war doesn't stop the ones already going, so now it's like complex war math. (A + B vs C + D) vs Me.
Surely being at war with somebody you have a defensive pact with, even if it's coming to the aid of another defensive pact, should end the pact there and then?
