At first I was going to post this in suggestions, but now that I've thought about how wrong this is, I'm calling this an unintentional bug.
I was fighting a long challenging war when I had two of my planets occupied. I was at about -50% warscore and had just defeated all the enemy's fleets in one large battle, so before I can turn the tide my enemy, they send a 48% peace deal demanding four planets be ceded. To decline I need 100 influence, I had 12 left after hiring a new general and 6 months to get to 100. After cancelling all my edicts and reaching 6.25 influence gain a month, I knew I was screwed.
I thought, they can't demand anything if they're losing, so I reoccupied my two planets and two of theirs, one of which was their capital within those 6 months. Now at positive 28% warscore and not 100 influence, the war ended with me being forced to cede four planets without negotiation.
Now before you tell me I'm bad at managing my influence, which I am still really struggling with even after a few games, can a peace deal be changed in the future to check if acceptable before being enforced in addition to when sent?
