Won the first war with the US as Italy and annexed all their territory. After the conference I released them to get the Duce Nuked'em achievement.
2nd war was weird though as they controlled 100% of their cores throughout it all.
At present in the game I control every single former US territory except for Lake Michigan which cannot be conquered (seperate issue) and they are still listed as controlling 100% of their cores.
