Save game history: This is save I started under v. 1.1.0 but has been consistently patched to this point.
I am playing in ironman mode.
Description: I formed a Federation. All was right with the world. I saved / quit.
Upon reload several things happened.
1. The Federation which, previously cost no influence to maintain, now costs 1.50 influence per month.
2. Defensive pacts appeared between myself and all members of my Federation.
3. Defensive pacts also appeared between myself and all protectorates or vassals I had at the time of creating the Federation.
4. The diplomacy tooltips indicated that the "trust" of my Federation partners would only go up to 50 because "we are not allied." If sharing a star fleet isn't allied I don't know what is.
The influence costs of these Defensive Pacts basically zeroize my influence income making further play very difficult.
Of note, I can break the defensive pacts with Federation members and stay in the Federation. I'm not sure what the purpose of the Pacts is because I think I'll end up at war with anyone who attacks another Federation member anyway.
With the protectorate and vassals I can release them, reestablish the relationship, and not see a defensive pact. However after I save/quit and reload, the two pacts reestablish themselves.
Replication: I have not started a new game and have no earlier saves due to Ironman mode.

P.S. Love the game. Will happily buy DLC until computers can no longer run the engine.
