Has anyone else experienced that since 1.13 the AI is now creating huge empires?
As you can see in my current game there are a lot of very big empires, it is something I haven't seen expand so big, so quickly. (Although I do admit I have stayed out of Europe on purpose in this game and focused on my colonies.)

And pretty early to boot. But I don´t think this is enough to say if it has changed much. They do seem a little bit more expansionist, but I don´t think its that big of an issue.

From my observations I think they changed behaviour of nations with admnistrative/balanced/diplomatic rulers to be more agressive. In previous patches, only militaristic nations ever blobbed beyond historical borders..

But I'm likely wrong.

What i *am* pretty sure on though is that AI takes way more land in peace deals, even up to 9x% overextension. In 1.9.2 I rarely saw that happen, now its lot more frequent.

But then again, each campaign is different..

Hard to make solid observations.

I made some changes in the defines file to make the AI more aggressive in taking provinces (like players).
In my Tabrestan -> Persia game, it's 1552 and Europe looks like this:

Ottomans have Iraq as march and Tunis as vassal, as well as Fruili and Treviso.
Pope has Crete, Scio and Mantrega, while Austria ate Tuscany. Venice and Genoa have ceased to exist.

I dont know if this is a real change or just random, but my recent games also had several blobs. Actually I kind of like it. Aggressive/expansionist AI = fun campaigns in my experience.

It does seem that by 1600 the only states left are large ones or members of the HRE. That's not why I stop then, it's just surprising now. It's because AE has been massively reduced 1.13.

Strangely, I've observed the opposite. In my games only the Commonwealth and the Ottomans have built any empires of note. One nation will conquer most of India and then stop expanding, even with militarist rulers. Russia collapses every game. The HRE remains as cluttered as it is in 1444. I'd prefer bigger empires personally, especially late game. Perhaps I'm just unlucky.

Yes, I noticed this, too.
In my current AAR, the Ottomans have a border with Austria's province Graz. Very expansionist, the AI. Naples has conquered Sardinia and Sicily. Aragon has conquered about ~5 provinces from Castile. Switzerblob is expanding like mad. Muscovy expands like mad. All that in the first 100 years of the campaign.

My only problem with this is Sweden, they just overrun everyone in Scandinavia way too quickly, so you see Scandinavia forming almost everytime and beating the shit out of Muscovy (<-worst national ideas EVER)
Can't confirm this. In my current campaign, Norway and Sweden coexist. Muscovy has expanded slightlly into Scandinavia. Muscovy also has Finland as vassal.

And then there is Lithuania/Poland, which overtake the rule Russia should have, and blob into the hordes with their uber-armys...
Commonwealth is very OP. I'm very happy that in my current campaign, Poland has not PUed Lithuania :)

In my Ayutthaya game While I've been carving up South East Asia and reconquering China for the Ming the Indian Subcontinent is in a deadly game of thrones with Bengal, Vijay, Gujarat, and Delhi are all staring each other down and Ottomans are in full conquest mode while Persia solidifies, I'm loving the AE change Wiz made.

The AI is just more expansionist in 1.13. I don't think it's because of the AE change.

I should of mentioned that I am not saying this is a bad thing, that I think the more the AI expands the better the game is, as has been mentioned a lot is by this stage in the game as a player you have normally blobbed and continuing the game is normally pointless at this stage. So if the AI can create empires which can equal you then that is great.
It was why I limited myself in this game to stay out of expanding in Europe as I wanted to give the AI chance before I got involved there, but in previous patches I haven't seen the AI grow anywhere near this amount, so quickly, so I just presumed this was a good change made in 1.13
