1.12 and provincial trade power inflation

With patch 1.12 and the development overhaul, provincial trade power is now equal to (development*0.40) , which means that even a 1-1-1 non-coastal province in 1.12 provides more base trade power compared to any BT-non coastal province in 1.11.4. This has lead to a significant increase in the provincial trade power of the nodes, from 150% to 280% increase from 1.11.4 to 1.12. A sample of data is avalaible here :

This has lead to a significant decrease in the relative power of the trade fleets, as you pretty much need double the amount of ships in 1.12 to get the same share of trade as in 1.11.4. This especially makes privateering harder.

Is this working as designed ? Were trade fleets really that overpowered ?

It's WAD, maintenance on ships was lowered to compensate. We might tweak numbers further in the future, but yes province trade power is supposed to be more meaningful.

YAY! i am loving trade in common sense by the way, good job! I do feel that navies are now wonky in ship strength though, you have less forcelimit so not building a light ship is much more of a sacrifice now.

Actually I think it makes heavies/galleys slightly better by comparison (though the former are still expensive to maintain). Lots of light ships aren't going to make an appreciable dent in Genoa or even English Channel - if you want to dominate the trade node you're going to have to take the land (for which a combat navy helps), not just spam light ships to the exclusion of everything else.

This is a nice change, so that you can achieve venetian sea by conquering the centers of trade.

In 1.11, I took over 6 trade nodes as a colonizing Scandinavia with approximately 350 light ships. That shouldn't happen

Merchants don't seem to give naval FL anymore, is this WAD? Because if it is, then small trading empires like Hansa, Genoa and Venice suffer alot. They're supposed to remain small in terms of territory, but should be able to wield strong fleets. Trading Posts don't give the +1 force limit either anymore, it seems... Why?

If this is true, it seems like heavy ships just became significantly more valuable and higher priority, as light ships appear to have lost most of their utility.

I like it, A lot of LPers were getting to the point of PURE Light Ship fleets forever, I think this is a good step in weakening that.
