We're planning to decouple ironman from achievements (as in, letting you play ironman with mods but having specific requirements for achievements, including ironman).

Are there any plans for an official way to de-ironman a game? I don't see how there could be any possibility for cheating if it permanently removes ironman status, and this would allow us to switch nations mid-game once we've gotten all of the achievements we wanted, or to use the increasingly-competent Vicky II converter.

In my current game as Castile (1.10.1 with all hotfixes), I notice that my depleted armies pay 0.0 ducats in Reinforcement when they get reinforced. That looks like a bug. Confirm?

I don't know if I'm missing something, but the diplomatic reputation penalty(now -3) doesn't seem to be added in my French game. I can annex my second vassal with +3 per month, when the penalty should have made that impossible?

Fantastic work, devs! The speed with which you all read and processed our complaints, decided to hotfix so many issues, developed the hotfixes, and implemented them is really quite extraordinary. For all the criticism the EU4 team gets from some sections of the player base, it's hard for anyone to reasonably argue that Paradox isn't one of the most communally responsive developers around.

From that sentence I presume you are not aware that you can make copies of ironman saves and play them without any problem?

Though really cheating if you want is so easy(even if you ignore exploits, cheese or whatever people want to call some popular cheats) that it shouldn't feature in an argument about anything.

Both... we felt it was mostly just confusing to the player to have decisions like Form Prussia when it wouldn't switch ideas.

You can mod them back in if you want.
So you decided to screw up those who planned tag-switching well in advance and started the game with that in mind? And bought El Dorado for that very reason in the first place.

Seriously, what's the logic of allowing 800-points Ironman Custom Nations (no achiements, I know) while artificially prohibiting tag-switching?

Aww, but I was planning on going Custom Borgia > Italy. Not for the ideas, but because that removes the constant Papal bickering and it'd give free claims. Not a fan of this change.

Also, this bit about confusion is slightly paternalistic.

why would you make a custom nation only to switch to a boring vanilla one?

It depends on the situation. For example, I thought of an alternate history scenario I wanted to set up whereby the French region did not centralize in the Middle Ages. I would carve up all the provinces belonging to France and allocate them to various custom nations of the French culture group, so that there is no nation called "France" in 1444. I was planning it under the assumption that, since they're all of the French group, any one of them could still form France if they become strong enough to conquer and core the right provinces. Now it looks like that won't be possible.

Of course, a bit of preliminary testing in the customizer indicates it would have been wonky taking France out anyway, since its removal does not cancel the Hundred Years' War or render their vassals independent. I hope there will be a patch that will make it so nations that are removed in the customizer will have all of their diplomatic relations automatically cancelled.

It's better not to be quiet about it at this point. Despite multiple reports and confirmation it was ignored outright, and now the developers are overtly refusing to comment on it all while patching subject nations.

Doesn't that strike anybody else as awkward? It's not just me asking about this, and it's not hard to reproduce it.

We'll get an answer when an answer is due. We're not their board of directors so we cant and shouldnt be informed on any progress that is made (or not).

It was known months ago :/. This is a very baffling issue, as is the lack of attention to it given the changes to the game.

Nope. And you're not supposed to be able to anymore because your navies are now hindered by your colonial range cap. Most likely designed to cut down on blatantly ridiculous feats like yours.

Actually, that cap is only in play with the new system. The manual exploration they've re-enabled still allows you to go wherever you want to.



Also, I am a bit saddened by the fact that random nations cannot form into normal ones. I mean, here I was tinkering with a Brabant with things like -10% idea cost and -20% tech cost as traditions, aiming for the fastest Netherlands possible... Oh well.

I'll have to settle for regular Burgundy and just replacing France with a bunch of random little nations ;)
