I have the anthology, I installed all three version.
HOI2 Vanilla - land Bridges
HOI2DD - land Bridges
HOI2Arm - Missing Land Bridges

I also extracted the HOI2 Arm 1.1 patch and the text is missing in that file.
It makes the Pacific a bit harder since you need to supply so many islands, Philippines doesnt get it resources, Netherlands needs more transports and some stuff in the caribbean.

I compared the HOI2DD version with the HOI2Arm version and listed below the differences in the file. I dont know if this is news to anyone?

I havent controlled all but those i did check where all islands that really shouldt have a land connection. First one is Attu island and Amchita which has +200 km of ice water in between them. The last one 1136-115 is from Madagaskar to reunion which has around 700 km inbetween them. The others i checked where also islands with some water in between them. So it seems to be OK that they dont have a land connection

These missing connections only affect Japan, US, Netherland, Philippines, Australia, UK and France. But hurts people playing Japan/US the most since they need a bunch more convoys to each island. Also Philippines doesnt start out with transports and wont build any, so it looses out on the precious few resources it has.

How I got these number, was by taking the DD adj-defs.txt file and comparing it with the HOI2 Arm 1.1 adj-defs.txt file. What was left was missing in Armageddon. I dont know why they would suddenly remove all these land connections for HOI2 Arm 1.1. Also this is From a fresh install of both DD and Arm.

In my opinion, it makes no sense having landconnections between those islands, you are soppused to build convoys to supply your island hopping campaigns. Phillipines AI can easily be made to build more convoys if they need some. US buildt a huge transport fleet to supply its forces in the Pacific, so i think its only fitting we as players are forced to the same. But thats just my personal opinion.

I compared the versions.

You are correct in, that in all the other versions, they are there. It is clearly seen in the doomsday version as you mention. No argument about that.

My gues is that it was intended, and they implemented the change when introducing Armageddon. Not all changes make it to the changelog.

The only reason i see for having those landconnections in, is that it helps the AI's to perform better. In armageddon they also introduced two new moddable AI parameters that has to do with convoys and convoy escort building. So we now have better control with those builds for the AI.

I have difficulty to see, how they could remove those entries for only Island connection by mistake. I cant say it definitely is not a mistake, only Paradox know that.

Ind the end, we can mod those in or out according to our own preferences. On that we can atleast agree. :)

The flag box is too low on the counters.

While I agree that they can easily build more convoys if they need some, they should START with some (I have modded my phi.inc to give them 25/5) if the changes where intentional.

I would also point out that is doesn't make sense to ship all of the supplies from the West Coast. They should go from the West Coast (San Francisco?) to major supply depots (Pearl Harbor, Guam, Okinawa) and from there to the minor islands, but we can't do that with the HOI2 engine.

Completely Agree on that. I added the 50 they have in all other scenarios except the 1936 inc file.

Again Agree. Thats really one of the things this game lacks, are more sophisticated logistic engine, with regional supply dumbs.

Its U71 where the flag box to low, On U70 the airflag is one pixel to small. There are quite alott of similar errors in several of the new counters. Mainly air counters flag sitting one pixel to high, dont think it makes much difference ingame, aslong as they are not to low.

Well, who knows? Maybe it'll still come out at the end of February! The NA 2.2 patch was officially coming out at the end of January but it came out somewhat earlier, if I remember correctly. As for March, well, it could be early, middle or end of... March has 31 days, no? Just imagine if it were to come out on 1st March and not the 31st! It would still be the month in question but 30 days earlier! Here's hoping... ;)

We've been waiting long enough, a month or two doesn't matter to me. Quality of content is much more important than speed. I don't think we'll get another patch for Armageddon.

Well, you're right, of course. It certainly is better to wait longer and have a better patch (if that's what waiting longer means... ahem :D ) And as for other patches after 1.2, it does seem that it may well be the last one, right enough!

Paradox has made tree patch to all other games. This is a 5 € booster pack, but still you could always dream. :)

Most likely this will be the last one. Revolutions has had just one patch to it.
