Some users even reporting September 1939, sometimes 1940. Make the event to enter the war be behind an NF wall that can only be unlocked by July 1941 at the earliest unless first declared war upon or attacked.

In my observation game (as in, I didn't play, just watched) (historical AI, normal difficulty), the US joined right after Germany declared war on Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
