Basically 1.1.3 made the game unplayable for me as it doesn't save at all anymore.

Granted it doesn't corrupt my saves, but it doesn't let me make new ones.
It apears to be saving, and if I go into the load game menu it will say a new date and time that correspods with the save I just tried to make.. but if I try to load it up it will be the old save that I tried to replace, and all the info in the load screen reverts back to the old saves info..

There has been no news for a long time now.. so a patch anytime soon? Within a week would be good!!!

Or is this game to be considered as dead and buried on the consoles now?

18 days... hundreds of views... not a single response from the developer.

I'm afraid to say that it seems Paradox just don't care enough to acknowledge the issues or respond with anything at all.

I've seen some shite developers in my time but I don't think even Atari took this long to make an effort when attempting to fix the atrocity called Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Pretty much the whole of Europe are on summer break right now, including much of Paradox and their external game developers.

Consequently no games are getting any patches released at present, I am sorry. Typically mid-August is when such things start to come to life again.

There is a bug report I see when a second or even third XBox account is used, is that the case here? For those users the primary XBox account works fine.

The other possibility I see is that MS have limited their safe storage of our saves to 256mb, but several save slots each used by large cities can exceed that. Do you get this even in a new small town, or only later on?

I beg to differ. My xbox one had multiple updates to other games this week including, but not limited to Minecraft and Halo Wars 2. However that doesn't explain a lack in interaction with a fan base who are obviously on tender hooks as to when this game may eventually be fixed - it's not like this issue is new, it has been apparent in the game since the update, and was reported by other users very early on.

So are you saying mid August we will have an update or are you just throwing dates around? This has been going on for months now. We need information.

I use one account on my xbox and I have had this error. Second or third accounts may suffer it but so does the only account on a console.

Define a small town. Without knowing rough population/size "small town" is subjective. I've only ever witnessed it on larger cities. Does that imply there can be no fix if you're pushing blame to MS and their safe storage? I have other games and saves which greatly exceed 256mb yet do not suffer issues of not saving data.

Surely it's time to be transparent with the fan base waiting to be able to play a game they were excited about playing and so far have been unable to have a decent experience in a large city. Acknowledgement of the issues faster than 18 days (and only then because some pain in the hole bumped a topic!) would be a good start.

I meant PDS and PI games, naturally, I could hardly speak for others.

The XBOX has a limit of 256MB of safe storage per title per user. If a user has a large city (200k) and saves it in enough slots, the next write to slot will fail as it runs out of storage.

However when you try to load the game it will load what was previously there. This sounds like the OP's issue to me.

We could request MS up the limit to 512MB or 1GB per title per user.

Otherwise we could compress the data before it is written. This would cause the save time to take even longer. it would also require more memory, leaving less for the game (which is already an issue).

Call that 'blaming MS' if you wish, but that is the situation.

Naturally one would assume by stating "the whole of Europe" followed by "including Paradox..." would imply more than just the monkeys at Paradox, but the whole of Europe were shut down for summer. But thank you for clearing that up a little. Next time someone needs one of my staff to do something important and urgently, like make something work that should have worked from day one, I'll be sure to send them on holiday and use that excuse...

Why wasn't the safe storage limit checked?? Surely someone would have made a city larger than 200k population during testing... Did it not cross anyone's mind to check the saves would fit in the space you have for them and if they didn't to request the limit is increased to allow saves to, I don't know, save?

Don't get me wrong, I know developing a video game isn't exactly simple but it's not rocket science to test it properly before releasing. It may be the situation but to be totally frank, it's a situation that should have been avoided by adequate quality control. Lack of updates on the issues, lack of responses to questions or very slow responses just make it look like Paradox couldn't care less about the XBone version now it's released.

It probably is meaningless but the way the issues with Cities have been dealt with it's put me off from purchasing any further titles from Paradox.

So you know about the save issues but this is the first I have heard about why it isn't saving. Had I known I could have deleted some older saves. Could you not implement a warning when you are close to the 256mb limit? Or even let us know it hasn't actually saved, although pointless as it would never save according to the limits.

If you can request MS up the limit why haven't you?

Compress the save? I wouldn't mind it taking longer if it actually worked, but then im sure the more memory required would make it crash....... even more.

If you know about all the issues, save game size, memory issues and the many more why even release the game on the xbox one? Maybe a population cap or tile cap which would limit population would make the game use less memory (which is an issue) and saves would work.

It just has rushed, untested, not bothered written all over it.

And its being released on PS4 whilst still broken.
