– Flavour, flavour, flavour. I could name some good destinations of flavour attention but anywhere is good. 'Cept flavour is more the stuff of DLCs than patches. ;)

– More loving to Welsh principalities in later periods?

– Some working in of a Catholic BYZ perhaps.

I want the ability to raise levies the old way. I.e no magical transport to some distant capital when raising the levies of a vassals vassal. The degree of annoyance is directly proportional to the size of my empire. The larger it becomes the worse this new feature is.

Also, the continued absence of an "embark all" button boggles my mind.

The ability to "vassalize" people of your same tier if you are way above their strength. So you could be a king and vassalize a king because you are very powerful and have like 10 other king titles, and a powerful super emperor wont have his kingdom split up through gravelkin.

-Heretic Religious events, I believe someone went over a rather nice list of what could happen in a different topic.

-I'm waging a guess that the next DLC will be the Pagan/Zoroastrian as they're the next largest people who have dynasties and I'd like many delicious events for their individual brances (and for the Pagans in Mali to not be called Pagan, but whatever their religion. It just breaks the flow.)

-More reasons to play Catholic rulers, as of late with the Orthodox and Islam DLCs it's not really been fun to play as them just for 2-3 Crusades and nothing really else.

I would like to be able to force vassalise neighbouring Dukedoms.

In my most recent game I had Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Hereford/Northumberland and then when the Duchess of York revolted for independence and I joined in, she revassalised to the crown of England 3 days after the war. WTF! Surely she should be much more likely to gravitate towards a large more powerful kingdom, even if not de jure.

Most of these are the same as the ones I've had in the 1.08 wishlist, but I'll post them again:

1. Several new cultures – a few cultures important to the time period are noticeably missing, and some might even help in terms of balance: Volga Bulgar (in Cumania, to weaken the Cumans’ starting position); Berber (in North Africa, who are not only a large, broad population historically and nowadays, but who can also provide some conflict in North Africa and Andalusia as well); Nubians; Pashtuns or some other east Persian group; and the Sicilian melting pot

2. Variant of Agnatic-Cognatic succession where brothers (and their male descendants) inherit before daughters

3. The ability for ambitious nobles/dukes in the Byzantine Empire to seize the Imperial throne for themselves – it’s not realistic having the same dynasty in Byzantium for so long

4. Crusader AI armies should be coordinated, somehow

5. The ability to choose grandchildren’s name, and choose landed childrens’ marriage partners – or at least approve of or deny them – I find it odd parents don’t have a say in their children’s marriages if they’re landed or living under another liege

6. Mongol portraits for Cumans and Pechenegs

7. Some expansion of the map in Africa now that we have the African portraits

8. When considering marriage, AI takes into account family dynasties and whether the candidate is an heir to anything or has a claim on anything (i.e., even if the Crown Prince of the Byzantine Empire was a courtier in my mere county because I invited him, and thus “currently” a “nobody”, 1) he should be able to easily marry anyone in the world because of the fact that he is going to be Emperor of the Byzantine Empire one day; 2) he would not accept a matrilineal marriage because of this (several times I have matrilineally married off crown princes I invited to my court to random courtiers or people for fun - like marrying the crown prince of France in a matrilineal marriage to the daughter of the Ethiopian King, just because they’re both my courtiers and it’s funny)).

9. Martial and Learning should be a bit more useful – currently they’re kind of useless for rulers

10. More ambitions – there’re still not enough, in my opinion

Shorter life age for the characthers. Most of the ppl didnt live so long in the middle age like in the game. I had several rulers whom lived more than 80 years long. It was a very rare thing at this time.

Improved usability of dynasty tree views. Currently it is very hard to scroll around to get a good idea of how the dynasty looks. Making it possible to drag the window to be larger and make it easier to scroll around are two obvious improvements but as any such usability project there are many other small things which also can be done.

It was not really that rare among the nobility who was able to eat enough food most of the time lived almost as long as people do today. During the middle ages the average life expectancy of the English nobility who had managed to survive to 21 was 43 more years for a total of 64 years. Sure some tweaking might be needed but in my experience the length of lives in the game are all reasonable (with the major exception of lack of death in child birth).

Viking/Eskimo 100k doomstack invasion of Scandinavia :p
At least call them by their proper name, Inuit. Eskimo means raw fish/meat/protein eater, and is an insult.

@Topic: I'd like to see a redo of the message's system in a way, for example, Anno2070 has: a list of todo's, done's and upcoming events. A top-down list of todo items like seiges, army movement, bethrotels, usurpable titles, etc. And a bottom-top list on the other side of the screen of passed event: deaths, victories, etc etc, basically the stuff thats now in de two meesage types.

UI improvements, especially more hotkeys. Everything should be hotkeyed, especially unit actions like raising levies, disbanding levies, boarding ships, etc.

I wonder if this might not have been improved quite a bit in 1.08 with the automatic merging and the fact that you can choose where to raise units.

- Trade system with trade goods.
- Enhanced republic to Monarch interaction.
- Naval combat
- River sailing
- Turn back time and introduce the Norse with proper features such as tings, raids, invasion of Christendom, etc.
- Layered de jure territories (Example: Roman Empire covering all the old lands, Byzantine Empire all its old lands, Western Roman Empire all its old lands, Frankish Empire all its old lands - at the same time. It would make for continuous border disputes between two kingdoms or empires, Denmark and Germany at Holsten for example.)
- Allowing for culturally dependent province+title names.
- More empire-building mechanics such as reforms and a move away from Feudalism in the later game.
- Privileges, allow a duke certain privileges such as attacking a foreign power or have his titles inherited by foreigners, or guarantee a title to always stay within a certain dynasty. Relations bonus as a result.
- Tyranny, allow a monarch to impose tyranny on his vassals, such as limiting a title to certain religions or cultures, take away the privilege to fight other vassals, etc. Province revolt increase and/or relations malus as a result.
- Allow an increase in maximum province holdings by tech, which should still be dependent on terrain and climate. An cold and inhospitable area like Kola would start with one available slot, but could with tech grow to 3. A very hospitable, but mostly wild area like Småland would start with 4 and could grow to a 7 with tech. You would of course still need to actually make the cities. A place like Constantinople would of course still start out extremely rich and with 7 holdings.
- New holding types for tribes which cannot be used by civilized people without a income malus. Example: War Camp, Trade Centre, Holy Site, Village, Fort, etc.. These could then be upgraded to Castles, Cities and Temples. If applied with the previous system then tribal people can build holdings despite the province limit up until the terrain limit (3 in Kola right off the bat). Events in certain regions should also make these holdings spawn in free slots. Certain nations like Denmark, Iceland and Sweden would more likely have Villages and Forts instead of cities and castles as they do now. These lesser holdings would have limited capabilities.

That's all for now. :D

It was not really that rare among the nobility who was able to eat enough food most of the time lived almost as long as people do today. During the middle ages the average life expectancy of the English nobility who had managed to survive to 21 was 43 more years for a total of 64 years. Sure some tweaking might be needed but in my experience the length of lives in the game are all reasonable (with the major exception of lack of death in child birth).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_expectancy

I think part of the problem is that claims are not passed on to descendents until the current holder dies, which is problematic if the holder is female in a number of cases (leaving aside annoying issues like mothers not being able to call their sons into war, or vassals not being able to call the liege into war despite being their father/husband). They could probably fix the problem by being materially more careful about rules that shut close relatives out from assisting each other ("No, I don't care that its a faction, you are not deposing my mother as queen of norway without my three kingdoms worth of army saying something about it").

Mine:
1) Fix the pretender grandchild problem. This is the case where if a grandchild is alive when a king dies, the game decides hes a pretender to the throne (despite the small detail of his father being king) and so days after he comes of age, he decamps off to some annoying county, gets mat married to a courtier and made heir to a bishopric, thereby simply screwing the player for lols. That this has been around since 1.0 and hasn't been fixed is... unamusing. If you can't stop courtiers being abused this way, don't set them up for abuse - rate being a current heir over their strong claim/'pretender status'. Note also you have factions to put any moron on the throne, so you don't need this excruciatingly annoying mechanic.
2) I'm hard pressed for finding example of claims pressed for 'heirs of bishops' or even bishops, but I'm pretty sure that even in the few cases of 'king returns from monastery' the kingdom wasn't suddenly turned into a church fief. Leave the kingdom as is, and ditch the claimants status. Put in some bad traits if you must, but 'theocracy of England' just because a faction put the 'heir to the bishopric of xxx' on the throne is silly.
3) Fatamids. Hint: kingdom CBs are bad. Fatamids generally healthier than everybody else and one-shotting kingdoms is a substantial balance problem.
4) Holy wars. Who thought the Almvorads and the Algerians would be intervening from day 1? Lets limit who is brought in by this slightly? (like neighboring kingdom - that way you don't drag the Almvorads and Hammadids in until the Iberians hit Andalusia)
5) Sicily. Hard to believe the Byzantines actually feared them, huh? (although this is largely a result of large countries being too strong, and the arms race between the Byz, Seljuks and Fatamids).
6) Crusades. There has got to be a better way than 100 pitiful stacks being chopped down by the Fatamids. How about giving everybody a year to take the cross, then the pope appoints say 5 commanders, and the liege levy equivlent of those who take the cross split between those 5 commanders, boats are also supplied, and then they go for it (ie more closely approximating what actually happened). But all the irish counties taking the cross, and then sitting there because they can't find a path is just awkward.
