This...

And bring back Friends and Rivals concept from CK1... I understand there is a "Friend +30" opinion modifier now but it could be enhanced a little (and made a little more common). Say; Friend +20, Childhood Friends +10, Rival -20, Childhood Rival -10 (these could stack so a Childhood Friend always gets +10 bump even if you are bitter rivals now).

It would add a more personal level to the game IMHO. You might focus giving titles to your friends and undermining your rivals (sounds almost too obvious when you say it out loud). It would add a little more variety to opinions based on your actions, attributes and comparisons of traits.

"Sure the King is Cruel and Cowardly but we go way back so I can overlook that..." :D

It could be powered by events, like the old childhood Self-Improvement vs. Create Friend choices from CK1. In in games states like all the people with claims on the same title automatically get "Rival"... Or an additional event in a tournament of "humiliated by opponent" so you become rivals (or ends a Friendship). Keeping your sons in the same location for education might result in them being childhood friends, or childhood rivals... :) If a character has 2 guardians, perhaps there is a good chance they would become friends or rivals.

All sorts of fun...

Actually, if I am correct, there is already the code for friends and rivals - friends would give +100 relations, rivals, -100 relations. The problem is that it's not used by the game at all, and only in mods. Hopefully they'll use it in later DLC or patches, because even having just a friends vs. rivals dynamic would be great.

Friends/Rivals has happened to me. Although I've largely seen it when I have a regency. Apparently its a child thing.

Yeah, I've had it. It's rare, and rather frustrating in case of rivals. There's a -100 relationship penalty you can't get rid of. Terrible if they're powerful vassals. Still, it makes things interesting.

Yeah, I've rarely had the friends/rivals stuff without mods. It's there, but terribly under-utilized.

You have a thing for Serbia, don't you? I can tell. It's highly inapropriate of you. What we need, obviously, is more Norwegian things. That's far more logical. :p

Actually we need more American things. As is the United States is completely not represented in game. We need a United States invasion DLC. We shall destroy you with squash, corn products, bald eagles, and FREEDOM!!

Seriously though please rework Gavelkind succession to make some sort of logical sense for the AI. Make it so that titles each heir are contiguous if possible. Then add in the option for the player to create manage his own Gavelkind succession within the rules, i.e primary tier titles must be given to every heir before the primary heir can receive a second. Same rules apply for each tier of titles being doled out.

Doing only that would kill it off quicker. That'd let the Fatimids take them in one Holy War, rather than be forced to do it in two or more.

As it is at the moment, this is the picture that i usually see, the Caliph and one of the emirs take the two northern provinces in de-jure claim wars within the first 5-10 years and the southern province is then picked up by Axum from the south. Seriously, in 9 of 10 of my games, Nubia is gone within 15-20 years. So it's not exactly like Nubia has a real chance with the current setup either.

I got this game relatively recently so I do not know how "overpowered" assassinations were, but currently they are completely useless. There costs/risks greatly outweigh the possible benefits. I would like them to be a more viable option in the future.

Yes, I know you can "plot" murders, but that has never really made any sense to me. Why would I inform all of my family and friends about my scheme? Especially one as simple as paying a hunter or carriage driver to kill someone.

I just said quicker. Nubia is doomed without extensive reform. Just making it de Jure won't solve anything. That's nescessary as well, but not enough in itself. But that's been discussed elsewhere rather more extensively.

The old setup caused the AI to go completely overboard with assassinations, to such a degree that it could be considered game-breaking. So changes in the other direction should be done VERY carefully imo, if they should be done at all.

Actually, I think that's how it's supposed to be. If there was even a 50/50 chance most of them would succeed, it would be way too easy to simply assassinate your way to success. In real life, I think, assassinations would be costly and risky ventures - they're really more of a last resort more than anything, I think.

Be glad you missed the first couple of versions of the game, where it cost 50 gold to assassinate anyone, and the death rate was absurd. It was common to see the same person murder several heads of state within a few years.

Oh god. I'm glad I picked up CKII when 1.06 came out and most of these silly things got ironed out.

Mercs. As the king of Norway I can boast of being able to hire 7 different merc companies, two of which are navies(the last thing Norway would need)

I want to see more viking mercs, and I'd love to see the Victual Brothers being dynamic/increasing in size over time, cause they seem to be the only merc group even closely resembling vikings, with ships to support the troops straight away. They need moar powah!

I think there should be a more powerful tradition of Swiss mercenaries. I'm pretty sure that they were active at the time. And a more fleshed out Switzerland would be interesting, too.

Be glad you missed the first couple of versions of the game, where it cost 50 gold to assassinate anyone, and the death rate was absurd. It was common to see the same person murder several heads of state within a few years.

Or wen you could bring everyone in Europe to your court granted they had +50 relations with you?
