- the ahistorical Tech level progression (too slow for everyone in 1.08, but relatively too fast for minors) - see the RealEU threads-,

I hate to sound aggressive, but haven't you followed this thread? This problem is fixed in 1.09.

I don't know about others but 1.08 was considerbly more stable for me than 1.07. Looks like 1.09 will even be more stable.

I too was hoping that some "improvements" would be in 1.09 - I am so tired of hearing those damnable trumpets announcing that another round of 250D demands are being made from non-participating enemy allies. And the pingpong cannons are also quite annoying. I could handle the occasional crashes if these annoyances were eliminated.

Sorry to rant.

Anyway, thanks for 1.09 - you guys are the best.

My Apologies  - I read your post indeed but wasn't quite sure we were speaking of the same issue, as the "feature list" only spoke of "fixed bug in AI Tech progress" ...
I'm happy if it's fixed :)

improvements?

since when is getting the game working the way it is supposed to an improvement? It's called a fix.

Can I ask what a "nonworking monarch event" is? I've never run across it or heard of it.

Also, since some people have been using this patch already, what was done to fix the tech development and how does it work in the game.

Ok, sorry if I was unclear.

The tech progression in 1.09 is faster and more historically accurate, and the minors are no longer unproportionally quick.

Michael James,

since when is getting the game working the way it is supposed to an improvement? It's called a fix.

Yes, but how do you know when it works like it is "supposed to"? Arguably that would be when it works like specified, but every specification and design document I've ever seen has left gaping holes open for interpretation; that is simply how software development works in real life.

Can I ask what a "nonworking monarch event" is? I've never run across it or heard of it.

If you've only been playing single-player games I would expect you haven't. However, there are certain events set to happen for a host of monarchs in the game, and these only occured for one player nation.

Also, since some people have been using this patch already, what was done to fix the tech development and how does it work in the game.

See my previous post.

First let me give my thanks to the people who are working hard to make this a more enjoyable, and more stable game. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
Now to get back to a question I saw posted by Cardona above. Is there a team working on additions to this game as put forth on these boards, or is all the energy going to EU2? Of course I realize that the stability issues should be handled first, I'm just hoping that when they feel the engine stable, they will begin to look at the suggestions made for improvement.

Actually, I must admit I didn't understand either what was this "tech developpement bug" hartman was so happy to see fixed, until I read Doomdark's last post. It wasn't that obvious...

That is true (but bug or improvement, AFAIK this is the only problem with tech dev that has been discussed). They should probably say something about it in the readme for the patch. Still, the important thing is that it is there. :)

improvements

Bib....

If I get a recall notice from GM telling me that they are finally figured out how to fix the problem that the wheels have a tendency to explode at highway speeds and they ask me to bring my car in so that i can benefit from this wonderful "improvement" to my vehicle I'd be a bit peeved.

I'm glad that Paradox is adressing the stability issues. The memory leak was so bad on my PC that I couldn't play a game past 1680 or so. That's the reason I had to be such a war monger, honest!

:D

Sorry gents, but this is somewhat ridiculous...

I can't believe what I'm reading in this thread. User Cadorna has really to EXCUSE himself for the "monsterous heresy" of suggesting that EU is improvable?

C'mon, guys. EU is for me simply the best game I've ever played. But what the heck, even the better is improvable! The first step to mediocrity is to think that something is perfect and above any attempt to improvement.

I'm thankful that Paradox has corrected more bugs in this new patch. But don't lose the point: ideally, all computer games SHOULD be released bug-free, even great games like EU. The consumers have payed for this, at least in theory.
Unfortunately, from some years ago, the norm is to buy games "as they are" and then wait for the handy patch that solves quite a number of minor (or not so minor) bugs in the game performance.

I wouldn't have wrote this post if it was not for the angry/surprised answers that the (for me) reasonable post from Cadorna has brought. Paradox has done a masterwork with EU, so they are one of the software developers that deserve the least to be remembered that we, the consumers, have the right to buy bug-free games.

But man, Cadorna simply suggests that in the list of fixes there's not a single improvement of all the long list suggested at the ToDo wishlist, and then first Patric, and thereafter a number of fans jump over the thread asking Cadorna for an explanation!!
This is simply a nonsense, gentlemans, with all my respect. Cadorna didn't have to excuse or explain anything.

I'd hope also that Paradox was working perhaps in one or two REAL improvements (not fine-tuning or bug-removing) of an already great game, but by reading the short answer from Patric, it seems that they don't seem to think that EU is improvable in any way.

If this is not the case, I would really want to know

Doesn't the fact they turn out nice patches at a high quite regular speed indicate that they're continuously working on improving the game even in such a way I am yet to see from other game companies ?

I find the possible solution of tech advancement quite an improvement.

Try playing the first version and the latest one one after the other :D
