Rebels are besieging Modena in my current game. They reduced the little siege bar down to the point where it turns yellow, but then it stopped. Periodically they fire their little cannon as if the siege were continuing normally, but they never get any closer to actually capturing the city. Has this been noticed before? I looked at the savegame file and found:
combat = {
id = { type = 4712 id = 4398195 }
type = siege
province = 402
date = { year = 0 month = january day = 0 }
morale = { 2.350 3.848 }
attackers = { { type = 4712 id = 4397973 } }
fortress = { inf = 472 cav = 0 art = 12 }
siege_p = 8
siege_d = 0.000
siege_breaches = 40
}

I'd tried filling the date fields in to see if this was the problem, but the game has reset them to 0.

I had it happen to be as England trying to annex that little native nation with Manhattan in it. it took 6 years before I got sick and tired and hit quit. the seige was still ongoing, I had about 30 units on it at the time. how long did this seige last in your game?

If there's a bug here, it's more that the beseigers should realise it's pointless and go off somewhere else. Seiges didn't always work, you know :)

Once the beseiging force levels get below the fortification level they will rarely if ever progress the seige. What size is the fort?

Looking at it, it must be minimal, Andrew. The besieging army is only large enough to cover a minimal fort, and if the fort was any larger, the rebels would have disappeared by now.

I believe there is an intermittent bug where forts appear to be properly besieged but the siege doesn't progress, but this isn't an example of it.

With 40 breaches that siege is progressing just fine. The problem is it's a port and so the siege progress is stuck at 8. Some pirates off the coast to blockade it should finish up the siege.

There were 16000+ attackers shown on the map. Nobody is advanced enough to have above level 3 forts so there should have been no problem. I eventually solved it by deleting the siege from the savegame altogether. Modena built a very small army, had it destroyed and the rebels returned to besieging - the new siege was resolved normally and the government fell.
