Background
I've been playing as the Rurikovich dynasty, starting in 1066 as Novgorod. 1.08, all DLC, no mods. I've been going pretty well, with two thrones myself and three more split across different branches.
My current king has three daughters and a bastard son. The eldest daughter is married (matrilineally) to the Holy Roman Emperor. Sounds awesome, but (a) that title is agnatic seniority, and (b) that daughter is a hunchback. What's that, -30 to all male vassals? No thanks.
My second daughter is married to the king of Hungary. It's patrilineal, but he's a Rurikovich anyway, so... still works.
The Actual (Possible) Bug
I want my second daughter to inherit, bypassing the elder daughter and her offpsring. I thought that would be as simple as excommunicating her, which I did. Nope, doesn't care - she's still first in line. I tried forcing a succ_recalc, and waiting a few years, there's been no apparent change.
Do excommunicated Orthodox characters still inherit normally, or is this a bug?
