My first try with this set had a strange result in ethiopia. italy did not manage to annex ETH in 1938. The low ESE and the high attrition hurt italy quite much so that ETH can stall italy permanantly.
In my second try ETH manages to survive again. What happened here? Well, on october the 15th 1938 ETH is finally annexed, but that is a bit late, isn't it?

There's an attrition modifier kicking in if a unit does not have a full supply stock and that's lethal in low ESE areas. It gets even worse as it nearly explodes if supply stocks are lower than ~25 or ~33%. In CORE we have set CV_NO_SUPPLY_ATTRITION_SEVERITY from 5 to 3 in misc.txt. divsa should now last a bit longer in desert or jungle and it may also help if the defender leaves scorched earth behind.

I delayed all disbanding events that may lead to an unplausible small army till a bigger army is achieved. This tends to harm those nation in 99% of all cases, but an exploit by a human player is now less likely.
I chose to make 1 exception for Oman. Oman could never build up an army as attrition is higher than recruitment. SAU has a similiar problem. i tried to increase ESE with Infra in the buildung queue.

In July 1938 AI Japan managed to destroy 60 chinese dvisions, mostly due to sucessful pocketing. This scenario solves very well by now.

Disconnect between the production screen and unitnames.csv. Playing as USA, when I started work on a couple of carriers, I got '1 Yorktown-class' instead of USS Hornet that I was expecting.

I think this is WAD. Under certain circumstances there could be two ships with the same name. When the CV is finished does it display USS Hornet?

Sorry, but the two of you are wrong. I was trying to build two carriers in parallel, not in series. The names have always displayed before. Plus the production queue at the start of the game has two carriers, named, and ten light cruisers, named, and three heavy cruisers, named.

I chose to no longer include the disbanding events. This will increase the chinese losses in combat and due to attrition but reduces the losses by pocketing. Over all CHI has bcome weaker, JAP almost took Chongqing in 1939. The repaired command "construct" with "where = -4" is now used, also some garrison unlock events are included.

I have been thinking about allowing the CHI Inherit events for non ais. There could be an united front flag set by the events 90 or 91 and a positive flag + alliance between CHI and the Warlords will trigger the inheriting. The payment for this advantage is a 10 % dissent hit each the AI has to pay already. Any opinions on this?

Only 10% dissent? I would imagine there would be bigger problems then only that for such a move.

Well, a total of 40% takes quite some time to reduce and as the territory increases as well the effects on the TC are quite important. I could increase it to 15% each but than japan might have too big chances.

There is a similar even in CORE (I've seen it yesterday in the latest internal version, don't know if it is in the old one though but I suppose it should be there also) - after Nationalistic China leader (don't know how to spell his funky name he he) is kidnapped by a renegade officer player get's the chance to give in to demands and get's into a unified front with all the Chinese satellite states which then nets you dissent - don't know exactly how much, maybe 8%. But that amount seems like cheating to me. United Chinese front where player can take a direct control over Chinese satellites and directs their armies himself boost Chinese odds immensely up to a point where Japan AI would have no chance of penetration. That's why there should be a bigger penalty - I mean can you imagine all the warring Chinese to shake hands between each other and concentrate solely on Japanese? Such a scenario would historically only be possible if each of the involved parties would be in big trouble caused by the Japan. Make the prerequisites for this option to trigger more elaborate if you can and don't allow a united front to happen from the get go. Otherwise every human player will choose this option since it gives you the best results when compared to other options. Player needs to sweat when deciding which option to choose.

@Hister: The japan AI will still have 2-7 times the ic a human CHI will have. And as there are special AI manpower events Japan tend to have even a higher daily manpower gain than CHI. So assume Chiang Kai Shek does form the united front in april 1936 or so. Then he starts with 15 dissent in january, gets additional 15% by the chose of the option in event 90 and 40% by the following annexations. This is a total of 70%. It will take about 700 days to reduce this to 0 and if some provinces have a local dissent of 40% or more even partisan armies may occur. As i intent to make the 4 dissents events occur not too fast this problem will not be relevant. But even only 30% dissent mean a tc load of 220 with 36 tc available. I donnot want to be one of those soldiers in subtropical climate.
The most probable chose will be the medium choice in event 90 that reduces the dissent by 5. Another -5 dissent can be reached by event 91. So then there is a dissent of only 45% that could be down to 0 without nanjing beeing lost. So that will the most suitable course of action.
