If the Pope calls a crusade and loses all his land (e.g. holy war for Latium) while he's crusading, the crusade ends and you get a popup saying that the crusade was successful. No land is transferred to the winner of the crusade, but obviously the popup shouldn't say that he won. To be honest, I'm not even sure that the crusade should end at all.
