Has anyone noticed a tendency for Germany to forgo any attempt at defending against an air war (strategic bombing campaign, specifically) and completely avoiding repairs of infrastructure? Or is it just me?

As Italy, it is slightly heartbreaking to see German's IC steadily drop. It doesn't seem to understand the concept of interceptors or province repairs.

Are you sure it's only start bombing causign this ?
Do they still have rares to feed their industry?

The standard AI setting seems to be max 10% of IC allocated to repairs but I don't know how high it is on the priority list i.e. is IC transferred from production or not.

I noticed too. I like to play with Italians or Japan, and always Germany is a handicap. The "IA" loses the war vs URSS and if they win (with my help, the only way) the USA strategic bombers low its IC to pathetic levels. I have seen a Germany owns all Asia with 60-90 basic IC...

If Germany does not do a sea lion, it is eventually strat bombed to the stone age by a HUGE american bomber force stationed in England. Often already in 1941/1942. This really needs balancing.

I got a total breakdown of German industry at the end of 1941 in 1.07 due to lack of rares. Although there are some rares on the market
the AI is not aggressively buying them. I decided not to report this because I continued the game from an earlier version
so I thought the save was broken. Maybe there is really an issue with 1.07 here?

I noticed that too. However in my game the breakdown was about earlier 1944. Without rares Germany is lost.

This new version (1.07) is a really headache for germans. The german IA is stupid, the russians are stronger and the strategic bombing and lack of rares beat hard to the germans. ;)

Isn't all what you're writting pretty historic? The Germans HAD a massive rare issue, and while their industries WERE bombed down they still had quite a bit which they had problems actually feeding as they were lacking the ressources. Maybe it's a bit on the extreme level, but a Germany in 1944 still fighting the SU somewhere +/- historical and getting bombed by Allies day and night should not have more than 150, maybe 200 IC.

Germany managed to increase her production even further in 43-44, despite the bombing.

this happens in 1942 at the latest.

and no, strategic bombing was nowhere near this effective. the game does not take into account the fact that all nations increased in production capabilities throughout the war. Germany did so too. so, in fact, germany should be getting more IC even with the strat bombing. however this should also be the case for other nations as well.

strat bombing was more effective for creating (massive) supply problems. maybe strat bombing decreases TC? (in a way that IC doesn't go down that much)

I'm not surprised. My experience with Germany AI is that it's to heavily scripted. Playing a aggressive Italy and France is forced to move people from maginot line creating a opportunity for Germany to advance earlier. France had 4 units in on a province bordering Germany. Germany had this chance for atleast 6-8 months. Instead it waits waisting my resources.. heck even German air support is poor. And when it attacks it first declares war on and push through into France from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Sure I have no problem with attacking its weakest front.. but come on, take advantage from weak links even if it's early by the history books!!
