i was playing US and puppeted Japan, I had several stacks of USA units attacking into the japaneese puppet (name escapes me (manchuria?), the one it starts with). When I puppeted japan, all the japaneese national territory reverted back to japaneese from US. But, the territory i had in the japeneese puppet stayed 'blue' and was no longer tracing supply (it did not trace supply through the japaneese terrirtory) and the old japaneese puppet stayed at war with the allies. All my units were stuck in manchuria out of supply and drindled away very fast.

You need to have mil. access through Japan and maybe keep Korea in supply by yourself until Japan sets the convoys (not sure about this one).
