Ok! I have had a lot of frustration since buying this game receintly, and had to expierance all the bugs and problems others have known for some time, and why oh why have they not been fixed by now? Is it because HOI 2 is immenant? I was told last week by the publishers support help desk to wait for HOI 2 as it would be better, but I dont want to wait, I bought this game, and I would like it to do what its supposed to do! Otherwise I will not be buying HOI 2! The tragedy is that it hashuge potential and I have been waiting for a strategic war game like this to come along for a long time, and I have been playing PC war games since they were little green dots and numbers back in the early eighties? Take for example the latest frustrating game play issue, re the distance penalty for land combat added in v1.06. Its set too high guys! I attacked with 12 Australian units under a Field Marshell, combined infantry and armour, up against one German infantry unit, and got slaughtered because the distance penalty gave the German unit on home soil 150% to my 1% It is impossible to win battles in europe with Australian and New Zealand troops, and as everyone knows this is historicaly incorrect, as many foreign troops fought in Europe! I havent played as the USA yet, but I suspect the same penalties will apply, which makes it impossible to win? Add this to all the other problems and bugs encounterd in the last three weeks playing this game, like sending expeditionery forces, the editor not working, numerous crashes and conflicts etc. It becomes highly frustrating when it should be enjoyable. I hope someone at Paradox will take note of this, because we are not gaming guinea pigs but paying customers! Barry J. Smith

you have to land the units in the Uk - pick them up again and attack mainland europe. The penalty will be much less then (around -3% or so)

edit: there is a thread here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149230 about the same subject

Thank you for your prompt reply, so as I understand you, you have to unload from transport in UK then reboard transport and land in europe? I wish this had been explained in patch readme notes? It is hard to know what is a bug and what is not due to lack of information in manual and online notes. Thanks again!

Sorry, but I thought I put this in the right place as it covers several known bugs and other issues. It is in fact and all ecapsulating complaint and cry for help after 4 weeks of frustration.

A very convienent way is to recreate a stack of divisions. It doesn't work with single divisions though.
Just press 'Create new unit' and then move all divisions to the new unit. It will keep its comander just the supply point will be reset to the nearest possible.

And in case you forgot to do that in time it is still possible during a battle. Just order the unit to retreat, and then instantly recreate it. It will then get the nearest possible supply point and additionally take over the province and resume the battle on the defensive side.

And, yes, I agree. It's definetly not bugged. It works as designed.

ah, so thats why the italians keep whoppin my arse when invading the boot with a 3:1 advantage. was playing usa and even with a ton of air cover i couldnt crack that nut. and when i check my units, even though i had landed in tunesia and establashed a supply line there they stil said supplied from boston. so...it is my understanding...i need to create a new unit in tunesia so they will resupply there and not have that long distance love affair with boston going?

They will most likely get supplied either from one of the Egyptian provinces or from someplace in England. The supply source has to be an owned province of either yourself or an ally, not just a controlled one. Unless the Liberation of France event has kicked off, Tunisia is probably owned by Vichy France.

Oh, didn't know that! Useful, although might be a bit exploititative-especially the second one.

When I was playing USA and I invaded Africa, some of my units were being supplied from a province that was next to Bordeaux (forgot the name). France and that province were under German occupation (only controlled by Germany not owned). Vichy France existed. I did that thing with splitting units.
