[1.06] Asked myself to free my own wife

So I just got the Sword of Islam dlc, and started playing a game as one of the African country's (the name escapes me at the moment). More to the point one of my wives is discovered plotting to kill my son I want to inherit so I imprison her. Everything was going fine til an event popped up saying I got a letter from myself asking me to meet in the study to discuss the release of my wife. I then answered no and she died and I got a second event about me being upset about it. It was kinda weird and I am fairly certain it wasn't supposed to happen like that. I've attached the two images below. One is where I got the letter from myself and I moused over my portrait so you could see the letter matched my guys name. The other image is me being upset that she died when I had her killed.

I've also encountered this event as a christian ruler (Sword of Islam DLC) and able to repeat it or a very similar event where I can send a letter to her captor (myself) around 25% of the time.

Edit: I did throw myself in the dungeon on one of the repeats - my potrait didn't have bars on it yet in the character screen it had the 'in the dungeon' icon with associated penalties.
