I have ead the readme on 1.05c, and I'm still not quite clear on how transports fit into the equation.

Do they count against the stacking limit?
If not, doesn't that make fleets MORE vulnerable to attacks from 1 combat ship/50TP fleets?

TPs do not count. They do not make the fleet more powerfull as their attack value has been changed to 0.

Ok, that answers my question, thanx:)

But now I have another one:

Do the planes onboard a carrier count against the limit? Does a 12 ship fleet with two air capacity=2 carriers actually represent 16 units, giving the planes a -75% eff and everybody a -80% eff? (planes would be -155%?)

I'm fairly certain air and naval battles do not interfere and are treated as two different battles.

Are you saying that a plane onboard a carrier will attack enemy ships automatically if the carrier is engaged in battle?

no they dont - unless you have 12 other planes in that sea zone..

That's what I always thought:)

How else would it work? (especially when the planes don't have the range to go to a different sea zone.

This is definately the case. My problem is fielding fleets with over 12 aircraft capacity - then you start getting those nasty penalties.

And providing you get past pre-war junk, your aircraft can usually fly into adjacent sea-zones or ports. Just make sure you build naval bombers rather than torpedoe bombers to put on your carriers.
