It's a Saturday morning after Thanksgiving, and the turkey is becoming turkey salad today, the fudge is having to be rationed to make it last through the weekend, and I, fool that I am, feel as if my post (jokingly) protesting the patch release the day before Thanksgiving has caused it to be pushed back to the 30th. So here I sit, wishing I had the patch and watching "Russia:Land of Tsars " on the History channel instead.

Somedays, the irony is too much.

Since a long time I had been dreaming to update my Victoria with the 1.4 patch. I can't believe that it is only after 3 days now that I would be able to fulfill my dream. Thanks Paradox and Johan for always remembering your fans.

The zero makes it more accurate. Version numbers denote how much change is made. A ".1" change each patch is too much a jump IMO. EU1 had 10 patches bringing it to 1.10. Calling it "2.0" would have been absurd IMHO.
However, I do find that "1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc." looks better.

It is because some Paradox games have gone past the 10th patch (for example EU1), so therefore they need the 0.
I mean, when and if they get to the 10th patch, they write 1.10, but if they didn't have the 0, then what would they do?

If I hadn't already seen Paradox's versioning I would think 1.01-1.03 were all just minor patches and 1.1 would be a major patch. 1.11 would be a minor patch to 1.1 in this scheme. I don't think I've seen any other software that used versioning like Paradox used on games prior to HoI2.

OK, my explanation was slightly weak, but anyway, that is my logic for it.

The reasoning makes sense. Having EU1 with a version 2.0 wouldn't fit because it would be written as Europa Universalis 2.0 which is basically the same title in the next game in the series, just with the zero on the end. With all this talk about EU1 I think I just might try to play it again.
