Its kind of funny actually. Maybe they are going to try the infamous 'German Aircraft Carrier' strategy from Axis & Allies? ;)

I figured it was becuz of low intel tech - misidentified capital ship (?).

I looked up the facts. The carrier is in fact a "seaplane tender", It was called Zmaj according to THIS website.

Short facts about Zmaj/Zmaji:

Propulsion: 2 diesels, 2 shafts, 3260 hp, 16 knots
Crew: unknown
Armor: probably none
Armament: 2 10.5 cm AA, 5 37 mm AA, 6 20 mm AA, 120 mines
Aircraft: 10 seaplanes

Concept/Program: A small seaplane tender which was in Yugoslavian service during the 1930's. Details of her history are sketchy.

Design: Large working deck aft, with a crane at its forward end, and another small working deck aft of the superstructure.

Departure from Service/Disposal: Captured by the Germans during WWII, employed for various duties, and sunk by British aircraft.

WORKAROUNDS:

1. Delete it... Con: I like flavour.

2. Alter it to represent an AV (seaplane tender). Cons: Can it be done?

I tried to lower the strength of the carrier from 100 to 25 and started a game but it only costs appr 350 supply, 1,5 manpower and it only takes 3 months to "repair" it. So thats a no no.

I tried to change the "aircraft-load-capacity" from 1 (means it can take 1 plane??) to 0.5 but it could not be done in the editor (cant write "," or "." in it). If there is a way to change it from 1 to lets say... 0,25 then you could load a 25% strength torpedo plane on it :) But then again... you cant build a plane that only has 25% strength... so it could in that case only have a starting plane and if its lost all is lost :).

3. Metamorphosis. Cons: None that I can think of.

Lets switch it from being a carrier to an custom made destroyer - more fragile and slower but with some special skill like high sea detection to represent the airplanes :) My God my ideas regarding this matter is good! :)

BTW...

If this carrier should stay in the OOB... then several other countries should have AV's too. Sweden for example had three seaplane tenders... one of them being the seaplane CRUISER Gotland with 10 planes... Oh my... maybe I should flavour up all nations fleets according to real life naval OOB's... HOI would end up with a lot of small designed ships. Would be great methinks.

Nah, it doesn't even deserve to be either one of those. It was maybe a third of the size of the AV's the Americans and Japanese used. My copy of Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships has four pages on the Yugoslavian navy, and the Zmaj only rates half a sentence in a small paragraph listing "other vessels."

But as for flavor, I wouldn't mind seeing the tech tree and units.txt files reworked a bit to add some more detail, though, so that there was as much variety in the development of ships as there is in tanks.

In my OOB there are two capital ships!

I've also added light cruiser Dalmacija which was command ship of Yugoslav Navy but give it seadefence & seaattack only 2 since it was built in Bremen back in 1899!!!! :D

I'll leave the carrier for now but I'll try to make it pathethicly weak. ;)
