Some ideas to improve game :

- 1914 scenario : it should be nice to begin the scenario some months sooner. As it's now, you hardly have the time to set-up your armies in the right way.

- 1936 scenario :
1) I've noticed there are 2 Douglas McArthur in american army; it's a bit too much.

2) As other people said, germany is too weak in this game. After several games it seems to me :
- Germany, Japan an UK are too weak;
- France and USSR are too strong;
- USA are right.
I've not played Italy nor China, so for the moment I've no opinion about this powers.
One of the game's biggest problems are the unit building times. For US naval units, for example, this building times are ridiculously longs. Germany's weakness is, for a part, the outcome of land units too long building time. I suggest to give some powers a building bonus to speed production, for example under the form of a specifical technology to research.
- For Germany : bonus for land units and submarines;
- For UK : little bonus for naval units and airplanes;
- For USA : big bonus for naval units;
- For Japan : bonus for naval units OR land units (reflecting the conflict between imperial army and navy);
- For China, France, Italy and USSR : no bonus. I think USSR have already a bonus for land units...

3) Rare materials on the map are... rather rares. A little more in big towns (like in the others versions of HOI2) should be good.

Germany already does get bonuses to land units and submarines - they can build tank divisions ahead of everyone else, and they have the "indirect approach" naval doctrine which makes their submarines better than everyone elses.

There are some typos in the ministers. I'm not sure if they've been reported or not. I've only looked at ministers_usa.csv, but

"Wendell Willkie" should be "Wendell Wilkie"
"Gerald K. Smith"s should all be "Gerald L. K. Smith"
"Adlai Stevenson" should be "Adlai Stevenson II" (since you also did Nathan Bedford Forrest III, and Stevenson's namesake grandfather, as well as his son Adlai Stevenson III were both politicians)

That's just at a glance.

Looks like multiplayer was disabled in this patch... I cannot get multiplayer to connect. Clean installs on both PCs.
It shows that there is a game to join... press join... system hangs for 15 secs and then comes back alive, but not connected. It's not a firewall issue as I only run windows firewall and I allowed it through. A clean install of version 1.0 works just fine... but once its patched to 1.2 it no longer works...

UPDATE:
disabling UPNP on the router resolved the problem... this is only needed for the newest version... was never needed for previous versions.

Make sure you have same checksums on both machines. The only MP connection issue I know about is on starting a new game in DH Light. There are groups playing DH 1.02 in MP, so the problem is somewhere in your config.

I think that production times are ok. I played USA once and I easily raised a great navy, you have a lot of years to build it. Regarding land units, since USA had almost no army in '40, they needed more than three years to build one. That's what happens now in DH, you need time to have a decent army to defeat Germany.

The problem is that since you need three years to build a suitable army for liberating Europe, once you are ready Germany doesn't exist any more. The game I played with USA: Germany declared war on USSR in '41, in January '43, USSR "libreated" Poland, in summer '43 soviets was knocking on Berlin doors, winter '43, Berlin, Balcans, Italy were all red.

I could land in France a full year before the historical landing, I had enough divisions, but USSR did all the dirty job.

I also noticed another thing: the Spanish civil war lasts too much, very often the nationalists keep the west-northern area for years and nothing happens. In the game I played with USA, the civil war ended in '41, but several times I noticed that republicans win at the end of '40.

Partisans need to be given some kind of link to the country they are rebelling for. It makes no sense for Soviet bombers to blow up the partisans appearing inside Germany.

Sure, that does make sense. Soviets would have done that.

The USSR bombs Soviet partisans making uprisings inside land Germany took from the Soviets? Perhaps I wasn't clear on the situation.

If you're going to get hung up on "hurr, Soviets will kill anything even their own soldiers" then replace "Soviet bombers" with "American bombers" and move the partisans to New York after the Japanese invasion.

It makes no sense for them to bomb the enemies of their enemy when their enemy has plenty of other targets within range. The Soviets actually helped me crush a Soviet uprising during my march on Moscow. Perhaps partisans shouldn't be everyone's enemy, and should instead just be free militia units for whatever country is rebelling.

This. ;P

Of course, you are right. Maybe they could do it like in EU3 or Vic2, where rebels sometimes get differentiated by what country they belong two. But for now i think there r other things on their to-do-list. Especially because this is a very old Hoi-problem.
