Issue also reported in https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...selecting-any-fleet-stutters-gameplay.931286/ (missed it in my search)

Game started in 1.0.2
Installed mods: 48 Empire Colors and Increased Research Window Size
-occurs even if mods are disabled

Framerate will drop from 30-60 to 4
Issue occurs in map or system view
Issue occurs with any military fleet or civilian ship
In system view, issue occurs whether ship is in the system or not
Issue does not occur with planets, armies, or observation outposts
Issue does not occur when selecting the ships or fleets of vassals
Issue does not occur during early game

i7 2600k @3.5GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX 970 w/4GB RAM
-CPU at 15% utilization, highest core shows about 60% utilization
-50% free RAM, Stellaris using less than 1GB
-Video RAM less than 50% utilized with minimal GPU load
-Win10 and Stellaris running on a SSD

My single sector contains 56 planets; disbanding it or trimming as much as I can off of it makes no difference (this seemed to fix CPU issues for some people)

I have the same problem..

i5-6600k, 16GB Ram, GeForce 970. Windows 10.

I'm around 200 years into the game, own 270'ish planets, and when ever I select one of my fleets, the entire game starts to lag. It stops when I deselect the fleet.

I've heard there was some performance issues with Wormhole late game, so that might be it.

So, after I upgraded all my ships from Wormhole to Jumpdrives, and deleted my aprox 300 Worm Hole Stations, (I like to have one in each system where I have a planet colonized), the game started running a lot smoother, like a lot smoother.

There is no longer any slowdown when I select civilian ships and only a slight slowdown when I select one of my combat fleets. (which might be because both of my combat fleets are 500 corvettes). The game overall also runs smoother, the hick-up that used to happen every 6-8 days, is now only a slight bumb instead of 2-4 seconds of the game being stalled.

Then I integrated a vassal, whom was Wormhole, and when I selected the ships I inherited from him to delete them, the was lots of lag and stutter again, until I deselected the ships again. There is no question in my mind that Wormhole tech causes massive lag in end-game.
