I have flexible line tech: +50% Production Efficiency Retention

When I swap products in a line and swap back there is no retention at all starting at 10% efficiency.

For example swap from infantry equipment to support equipment and back
or change from light tank to medium tank and back.

This bonus seems to be broken and does not provide any benefit at all.

not running any mods

Are you sure you are interpreting the mechanic correctly? Be default there is no retention when you swap lines between completely different equipments. It only retains efficiency if you swap to a variant or an upgraded version. I would expect the bonus only apply if there was any retention to begin with.

Good point. I tested this as well.

Light Tank 1 to Light Tank 2 -> production efficiency went down to 10%. Light tank to Medium tank went to 10% efficiency as well. Normally there is actually less efficiency lost between different model and same chassis or different unit of same family. It seems the bonus is actually making efficiency retainment worse making certain techs a handicap rather than a bonus.

Edit: Also just loaded up a save where I don't have the tech. Changing from Light tank 2 back to Light tank 1 correctly goes to 50% efficiency instead of 10%. Definitely something wrong with the efficiency modifier from techs.

Also if you want to replicate yourself very easy method:

Load 1939 Scenario as Germany. They have dispersed industry 4, +40% efficiency retention.

Go to production line change panzer II to panzer I - efficiency goes from 80% to 24%
Load up same scenario, change germany's tech line to concentrated industry, let time pass to lose the 40% "Bonus" then make exact same change above - efficiency goes from 80% to 40%

Also correction to original thread title Production Retention techs are actually a penalty which is worse than 0 benefit

Would be nice to know if there is a hotfix coming for this in the pipeline any time soon.

This bug literally makes 6 techs in the industry tree useless and it completely nullifies a certain style of play in the current state of the game.
