Thank you for your report.

If you look at the National Focus in the national focus screen prior to starting it, you will see that it lists "this focus will pause if the prerequisites aren't met".
The tooltip also states so.
So, yes, your suspicion is correct.

Obviously, that's not really ideal in terms of being able to find the information; I have filed an internal report to have that information more prominently displayed.

My bad then, I thought all the info would be shown even after starting the focus.

Not at all, it really should have been.

That happened to me for a French focus where I had to wait for an "effect" to be finished before researching.

It was not clearly stated in the focus tree box, the wording should be : this focus is unavailable until "this effect" is finished.

The only thing I can think of is Defensive Stratagems requiring "strengthen government support" to be finished, but that seems pretty clearly mentioned, or am I missing something more subtle?

Would agree that it should say somewhere when the spirit will finish. If you don't write it down, you may forget.

The tooltip in the Political Screen does list the expiry date, but I've added a note in our internal system to see if that can also be added in the Focus Tree.
