Surviving Mars is proving to be quite fun. However with the billion CK/EU DLCs out there this really does make me wonder why HoI isn’t getting unit pack and general pack love.

I am wondering why cosmetic DLC aren't flung our way anyhow seeing this thread.

I bet there is a bunch of people that would pay hard cash for more uniforms, planes, tanks+variants, ships, artillery, mot and mech equipment, guns, etc.

I know I would. I miss the hoi3 uniforms that changed with the years. Gimme that camo! Distinct mountaineers and paratroopers and Marines!

The more sprites there are, the slower the game runs. When you have so many hundreds of little people, ships, and planes moving around, it bogs the game. That's part if the issue with so many sprites. If you want to see, go get the mods that give you all the airplane and ship graphics. So, if the SELL us a bunch of sprites and it bogs their game down, well, charging for things that make the game slower might open a can of worms. At least, that's my theory.

A couple of years ago, PDX changed their company-wide policy and decided that they would put mechanics and cosmetic features together into combined expansions. The theory was that Steam users were not buying the base games because they saw the list of 100 DLC and thought (wrongly) that vanilla must be unplayable on its own or that buying the base game would suck them into a black hole of DLC purchases (which was and is true!). CK2 and EUIV still have separate DLCs from the old policy.

Personally I preferred the older policy, as I could prioritize the features I wanted, and spending €/£/$3 was a nice payday treat. I have a spreadsheet of my PDX purchases and my total spending doesn't seem to have changed much. But presumably the change has been profitable for PDX.

The problem with this is that WtT also changed how generals are used. Countries such as Italy already had an abnormally low amount of unique generals. Now if I want to actually be involved on multiple fronts hello clone army my old friend.

The sprites seem like a non-issue as you can go into the launcher and select packs. I guess I need to go back and figure out how the sprites are assigned to unit types so my 1945 tanks aren’t using the M11/39 sprite. :)

From the various exchange, I understand that it was a paid dlc from the colonel edition, but the field marshall buyers don't have it despite being supposed to have the full colonel edition included in their pack.
Somebody has better info?

I think it was a bonus for people who pre-ordered the Colonel and FM editions. So PDX need to make it available to people who bought a product that is no longer available, in a sense. It's not hard to imagine that this might cause complications with the Paradox Store systems, but I think other games do this too, so the Steam platform should handle it.
