I want to jump-start such a discussion, but I didn't mean that KOTOR2 was bad, only that it was noticeably incomplete. In fact I liked it's atmosphere much more than the first one's. It was so depressing ( Specially the ending ) and gritty that it almost didn't seem like a Star Wars product. Goto is, to this date, one of my favourite SW characters, canon or else.

Anyway, it's Obsidian's curse, they are excellent developers ( They have Chris Avellone, for god's sake ) but pick pushy publishers and end with good, but half-baked content.

Thats why you just need to pick up the restored content mod which puts in a bunch of the cut stuff using files that came with the game and fills in the gaps a bit where it is incomplete

One of the best games in the history of the Star Wars franchise!

Aye. But a franchise ruined by Bioware's greed when they decided to turn it into an MMORPG.

I don't get why some people have problems with KOTOR2. IMHO, its a great game (though I never actually finished it, damn that ridicilous end-fight!), pretty serious and deep for a StarWars game. Could it have been better? Probably, but it could have been far, far worse.

Many loose ends were in the game due to cuts because the publishers wanted to get the game out early. There is a KOTOR2 restoration project that has been putting the cut content back in.

You realise that Bioware is totally owned by EA, right? Who gave them a new study specifically to develop it?

Point being that large publishers (these mainly being EA, Ubisoft etc.) don't give two shits about the games they publish or the consumer base, as long as they are making money.

I hope they all go bankrupt.

Well, you know how it is: as long as the consumers continue to buy, there is no reason for these practices to stop.

That's the same problem for TESO: I can dislike it as much as I want, the fact is that a lot of people seem to like it and eventually, even if I don't accept its lore it's still there and a lot of people will use it. Like in this mod.
By the way, I remember something about a new item system... I wonder if there will be something similar for magics. In Morrowind and Skyrim I loved to make character specialized in Frost/Fire etc... magic. I guess it's not planned to introduce that in the mod, but I think that the magics is also reworked for the next release. How simple will this new system be? I hope I will be able to mod it a bit.

Consumers? More like sheep, fooled by good marketing. Their games aren't even that good but they still sell millions. Good marketing can even save a very bad product. Proven with video games.

It's not being sheep to accept the only product. People aren't fooled by the marketing. 'Sheep' would only be true if there were alternative products that were better but had inferior marketing so did better. If Elder Scrolls games were being put out by multiple companies then you could pull out the sheep line if people went for the bad one solely for marketing. Hardly any video games are made, let alone RPGs, let alone fantasy RPGs, let alone on the large scale. It's not nothing to do with not being fooled, just acknowledging that it's better than nothing and that it can still be enjoyable even if it's not perfect. Pulling out free market democracy on niches doesn't work.
But when it's the only one, acting like anyone buying it must to so stupid as to be fooled by the marketing that you alone can see through? Then it's just being a prick.

What do you mean "the only product"? There are hundreds or even thousands of games in every genre. People don't have to be satisfied with games like Call of Duty or Battlefield, since better ones do exist. Yet people buy these games, most likely due to the fact that their publishers spend millions on marketing those games.

So yeah, you can say I'm a prick for calling people sheep for buying Battlefield (released as buggy messes, still not fixed but people continue to throw money at them) and CoD (every game has a different package with the same content inside), but the truth is that these games wouldn't sell if not for heavy marketing. Same thing applies to games like NHL15, which is apparently worse than the previous installation. But it sells. But yeah, your point is that of course they sell because they're the only one of their kind. Not true. If this was true, I'd also play these few games.

Lots of sales =/= good product.

EDIT: Anyhow, I believe we've spewed enough crap about this, maybe we should get back to the topic. Maybe.

Well that's what I tried to do but you seem to be very angry not only against some companies but also against the people that buy their games... I think you're being a bit too idealist here (especially for video games, it's really not a very important subject: just let the people buy and enjoy what they want...).

Not really against any consumers here, it's not my business on what they spend their money on. Even though I do believe it should go somewhere else other than EA and Ubisoft.

Magic will not be reworked in the next release. There are some new spells added but thats about it. There is a rework planned in the distant future but it will likely contain the same spells, just that it will take advantage of the new modding support added with Way of Life.

I just tell myself it's never gonna be released, it's how I get through the day. It's better than hearing "when it's ready" over and over, it's soul-crushing each time.
