Sunrise Invasion: A Fantasy Menace

When you bought the Sunset Invasion, did you feel that it was a bit lacking? Somehow, getting spit-roasted by the Aztecs and the Mongols just wasn't satisfying enough? Perhaps you needed every other parts occupied as well?

Be disappointed no more for I present you an expansion to the infamous Sunset Invasion, the "Sunrise Invasion". Following the story of the Aztec Invasion of Europe, the Aztecs clashed with the Incas back in the New World with the Mayans now seeking refuge in the Old World. The Incas seeing a strategic opening, launched an expedition of its own to the Old World. However, they did not anticipate the Japanese when they decided to do a two-pronged attack in both the occident and the orient. The world being bigger than they thought it was, the Incas were quickly devastated by the Japanese Samurai Army. Upon encountering this menace, the Japanese Emperor who previously only had ceremonial role, deposed the then Shogun of Japan and united the divided Chrysanthemum Throne and the various warring clans to chase the remnants of the Incas who have attempted to escape to the Indian Ocean. While across the Japanese Sea in mainland China, various powerful individuals bid their time and scheme to overthrow their Mongol Overlords while enviously coveting all things under heaven...

Compatibility
Because it is my intention to make this mod as compatible as possible (I'll even make it compatible with StarCraft! If I could...) as such there are minimal changes to the vanilla files. The only things changed are some of the graphics and coats of arms files. So long as a mod does not change these and not use the same ID ranges.

LumberKing,

I slightly get what you want us to do to install it, but could you PM me or post something on here for Windows 7 peeps?

Extract the contents of the download into MyDocuments/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/mod/. This is the normal place to put mods; if this is the first mod you have installed, you'll have to create the mod folder, the other folders should exist already.

It's got its own common/landed_titles/landed_titles.txt file, so I'd have to say no. That looks like the only potentially conflicting file.

Is it possible for you to randomize the invasion dates?

Hey I've yet to give the mod a try it sounds great by the way but is it compatible withe the likes of HIP?
Cheers

Bugger :/ well thanks mate! Not the biggest fan of the vanilla map haha

I have made some changes so that it doesn't use the landed_titles.txt. However this is not a complete fix however since all I've done is make a duplicate which may or may not cause a huge clusterfuck. It is my intention however, to make this mod as compatible as possible.

Is it possible for you to randomize the invasion dates?

There are no set dates for the invasions so it should be pretty random. It is dependent on a certain event after the Aztec Invasion however.

Right, new version out! A quick hotfix which fixes some issues as well as improving localisation.
Code:
Changelog version 1.0.0a:
- Fixed localiastion error (at the cost of other languages)
- Added cultural retinues for the new invading cultures
- Added cultural buildings for the new invading cultures
- Chinese can now castrate prisoners (requires Legacy of Rome DLC)
- Made some minor changes to the events

The Converter doesn't like it when you change the date. While it properly adjusts the history for 1453 it will still start in 1444. I suggest copying the EUIV defines and putting it in the copy/common section of the Converter. Then go into that file and adjust the start date to 1453. I found if you don't the game has patches of vanilla all over the place.
You may also want to go into the rebel types folder and adjust the nestorian rebels to assyrian.

Excellent! I do like the idea of and experience of the Sunset Invasion DLC, but I found it a bit lacking when it actually triggered. This Sunrise Invasion should spice it up even further for my really ahistorical fantasy playthrough. However, I do have a bug report, which I will PM to you.

New versions up!

Code:
Changelog version 1.0.0b:
- Fixed Chinese Invasion event bug
- Fixed CTD when playing as a Pagan (temporary fix)
- No longer as compatible (temporary)
- Added more cultures
- Added a decision to borrow money from the Mayans (requires Sons of Abraham DLC)
- Fixed the Converter aspect of the mod

For the time being, the mod will be incompatible with other mods. However, this is only temporary and once I find a good solution, I will make it as compatible as possible.

Code:
Changed vanilla files:
landed_titles.txt
00_religions.txt
00_cultures.txt
vassal_decisions.txt
a lot of things for the Converter

Mind including screenshots? :)

I'll consider it. ;)

Which Aztec event signifies our eastern friends showing up?

None of them to be exact. However, the Aztec vs Inca event will trigger a chain-reaction which will result in our Eastern buddies joining in the party.

PS I see you're a fellow Kiwi, I didn't think NZers played this sort of game. Good to see!

If you move all your added titles into to a common/landed_titles/sunrise_titles.txt (or whatever you want to call it) and leave the vanilla titles alone (no landed_titles.txt file in the mod), it should clear up the compatibility problem.

Hopefully i done that quote right! You a Kiwi living in Korea? and yeah theres not many of us about ive seen a couple floating about but not many i guess cause NZ is just another country of CoD fanatics who will never learn of
true games ;)

Looks like a pretty neat little mod, this!

Although I noticed in the event folders that chinese_events does not have a .txt affixed to the end signifying it is a file to be loaded. Any reason for that? Still working on that?
Also, what sort of coats of arms do you have loaded for this one? Are they Chinese style?
