Futuro della Republica ( Future of the Republic) :
645px-Coat_of_Arms_of_the_Italian_Social_Republic.svg.png

Coat of Arms of the New Italian republic : the Roman aquila associated with the Italian tricolour and the fasces

1.Great Plans :
A) Germania :

1447443553-heart-of-the-revolution.png

Decision that allows the formation of a Republican Danubian Federation with the help of Italy
1447443494-germania.png

Germany was the birthplace of the Revolution but the efforts of brilliant minds in favor of liberty and equality were brutally repressed by the Reaction. With our unification nearly completed the more radicals of our politicians advocate that we help the Germans and then help them defend their new liberty!
Pros :
- will help us spread our ideology
- will create a great ally in Central Europe
Cons :
- no direct gains for Italy in this theatre
- may have to fight both Burgundy and Bohemia
- the Germans could turn down on us later

B) Mare Nostrum Occidentalis
1447443506-occientalis.png
Italy sits at the center of the Mediterrenanean and it seems obvious that we should be the one controlling it as the Roman Empire of old! Thus this plan would concentrate on taking Sardegna, Cartago (which holds a significant South Italian population) and maybe even pupetting the Catalan state, in order to bring Freedom and Equality of course. We would also finish the Provencal state, establishing another sister-republic and fight with Paris until all Occitans are under the benevolent wing of the Italian Eagle!
Pros :
- would allow us to take the Italian islands of Sardegna-Corsica and also establishing another foothold in Africa.
- would help Italy by creating buffer-states in the West that could help in other wars
Cons :
- would need a severe restructuring of the Navy to effectively win against Barcelona with ease.
- would put Italy against the greatest power of the world, the Dual-Monarchy
- sister-republics would be easily subject to rebellion and might need permanent garrison

C) Mare Nostrum Orientalis
1447443537-orientalis.png
Others say that it is the Eastern Mediterannean that should take precedence for the future of the Republic. The old Ottoman Empire will only need a few strikes to completely fall under our armies! Egypt and Cyrenaica would constitute great colonies for our ever-expanding state and the promise of a Canal in Suez is another reason for their conquest.
Illyria holds onto the contested area of Dalmatia and is one of the most reactionary state in Europe. The theocracy in Montenegro and the Absolute rule of the Beys in Albania should also be controlled. The Yugoslavian ideas have also begun to interest people and we could use them to our advantage.
The Greek Republicans have also fled en masse to our state and would be useful for our ambitions.

Pros :
- territory of Dalmatia to secure from Illyrian hands
- lots of possible sister-republics with maybe the creation of a Yugoslavian Republic ?
- importance of Egypt for the colonial race

Cons :
- would be the most time-consuming plan given the numerous objectives.
- could put us at odds with various GP interested in the area

D) Arcadia
1447443522-arcadia-1.png

1447443560-arcadia-2.png
The New-World is free from the monarchist threat except in former Gran Colombia where bloody Spaniards oppress numerous peoples. The plan would be to mount an operation destined to free the vice-royalties from the hands of Madrid and maybe help recreate the old Colombian Federation. It would be the occasion to also improve our relations with the various Republics of the continent.

Pros :
- the Andagoya Isthmus could easily be taken in negotiations for the help provided.
- a developed Latin federation could provide manpower for our future ambitions in Europe in the Future.

Cons :
- distant objectives
- least essential for our destiny
- control of the new republics will be far from easily obtained

2. Malta :
During the last war we secured the island of Malta from the Aragonese Crown, a great naval base in the Mediteranean. The island has some ties with Sicily but is mostly of its own culture. To avoid dissent and unnecessary revolts politicians have suggested to allow the formation of a Maltese Republic which would handle their daily affairs.
A) Let them have their little Republic as long as they stay loyal!
B) Such a remote island does not deserve autonomy.

3. Principles of the Republic
Should we compromise with monarchies and dictatorships to accomplish our goals ? (could seem obscure but it is for the general choices there could be in events, so I'll not have to call for a vote for complicated matters that abide by this rule ; it also means no alliances with other governments than monarchy)
A) We stay true to our principles! Death to Reactionaries and Monarchies!
B) We have to cooperate to get our objectives done.
C) Cooperation but only in accordance to our principles ! (only Parliamentary Monarchies)

----------------------
For once the First Question is not exclusive : the first plan will get 3 votes, the second 2 and the third 1 while the 4th gets none ; the first ranked in points will be the priority, the second will be enacted once the first is done or if an important opportunity presents itself and so on for the third. I hope it's clear :p
Example of votes :
1. A-B-C-D
2. B
3. A
In this example Germania gets three points, Occidentalis gets two and Orientalis one ; then Malta is not released ; no alliances with monarchies

Anyway you'll have until the 20th (19h00 CEST) to vote!
You are always free to discuss and explain your choices and maybe point me if these are silly/whatever other things I could have badly done :p

b. Bohemian military score is surprisingly low.

c. Wow, the Ottos really rock in this game!

1. B, A, C, D - I want to see Corsica and Sardinia under Italy's control the most. Unite all of Italy!

2. B - Malta is better off under the guidance of the revolutionary government.

3. A - Do I even need to give my reason for this one? Oh well, here it is: Viva la Rivoluzione!

c. Wow, the Ottos really rock in this game!
Why the otter ? :D

b) yeah it's surprising and I haven't really been able to explain it. Also to note that the Scandinavian score is inflated by its navy I think
c) not for long ;)

For the first question:

A : We must have a strong German ally to support our lacking industries, from the Tiber to the Rhine the same blood flows through the veins! We must show the uttermost solidarity for our brothers oppressed by the foreign boot!

B : Since Germany's liberation would deplete us of many resources, our interests on our old enemies must step down a little. Following Prague's fall the Valois would find themselves without allies outside the weak Spain and our victory in Germany would surely grant us the support of Anglo-French revolutionaries. Aragon too, already shaken by our mighty victory will be forced to recognize their inferiority. Taking advantage of the pesky reactionary squabbles about royal privileges and dynastic succession we can bring the light of democracy to Barcelona (with the kind exchange of their Mediterranean and ulterior colonies).

D : By the time this phase starts Spain would have already fallen in a crisis for the end of their previously tough as unbeatable ally, the Dual Monarchy. We share many values and inspirations with the followers of Bolivar past the Ocean, we shall collaborate to bring down one of the most backwards and clerical governments in Europe. Didn't Bolivar vow in Rome to free Ameriga after all?

C : Even if I think that taking Egypt is a priority, if elements from plans can't be split from their main body, this one is last. The Balkans have not shown any major desire of democratic advancement, although the short-lived Greek Republic proved that in the birthplace of democracy, Pericles' ideas have not disappeared. There are many possibilities of expansion but they would require compromises regardless of our ideologies to stabilize our hegemony. Various members of the Royal Families of Illyria have showed more or less explicitly their liberal and democratic ideologies plus the Kingdom's rising Panslavic movement surely give even more prospectives for the future, although pesky questions like our claims on Dalmatia will complicate things. The liberal sultan won the Turkish Civil War will he be the reformer he announced to be or will he be the seine that will have to kicked away of the City of the World's Desire for the advantage of our Hellenic ally?

Second Question:

B : Malta is a legitimate part of the Sicilian Region. Even if we recognize their unique cultural heritage we can not grand land freely like candy to minorities. If they dissent, they can do as they wish but Malta is first of all Italian and *then* Maltese.

Third Question:

A : As I said before many members of European family members have shown support for our enlightened government, although this doesn't justify the unforgivable oppression by their familiars. If they show a wholehearted and sincere desire to come to pacts, we will treat them as equals, otherwise we will look at them as the scourge of human liberty. Even liberal ruler such as Zimisce have shown more and more reactionary ways of ruling their country, this demonstrates how we shall be as much clever as possible during our negotiations, if we ever have any.

EDIT: since the option has been added, my vote for the third question is " C " instead of " A ".

A. We must rescue our Germanian brothers from the shackles of the reactionaries and ensure we have an ally before we focus on the other objectives; If they ever turn on us, we should install a friendly puppet (and gain some territory like Switzerland, Tyrol, and Styria for insurance/tribute). I hear that Geneva is nice this time of the year
B. We should prioritize making the Western Mediterranean an Italian lake after gaining an ally and liberate the oppressed; Catalonia would a logical first step into this reality unless the Dual Monarchy is still in chaos, then we should take an advantage of the situation. The Basque would make a great sister-republic
C. Egypt, the Adriatic Coastline, and the Aegean Islands not under Greek control would be a fine additions to the Republic, with many sister-republics serving as buffers (preferably the entirety of the Balkans being puppetized/controlled)
D. We should seize Andagoya City and the Caribbean Islands (without cores) while liberating everyone else in Arcadia and Ameriga under Spanish rule (Directly and Indirectly) before we consider balkanizing the Spanish Kingdom (by freeing Galicia and Portugal) and liberating their colonies before we install a Republic there.
2. B The Maltese just simply need to be guided industrially and economically by Italian hands to lead it into self-sufficiency before it can ever be its own country
3. A (Unless we are dealing with monarchies with a Parliamentarian system) Down with the reactionaries, they've oppressed the people long enough. They shall be crushed into dust by the feet of the people; Viva la Rivoluzione!
Edit: C
for #3, We should be more lenient for monarchies with a Parliamentarian system (as they have on their accord (whether peacefully or by the hand of either the people or those with the power to limit the power of their crown)) if we ever encounter them in our endeavors; Otherwise, CRUSH the Absolutist and the more dictatorial "Constitutional" monarchies and install a republic to rid the people of those dictatorships.

Thank God I looked and found voting going on!

Italia's destiny is strong. We must make it stronger.

1. C A B D

Not only is kebab a travesty that should have been wiped out long ago, but their mere existence violates our deeply held beliefs of freedom in the new Republic, which we paid horribly to defend. The Sultan and his would be replacements waiting in the Palace and in the generalship crushed one of the greatest revolts for freedom ever witnessed. This will not only be revenge, paid finally after centuries, with interest, but toppling the Empire opens many inroads. And along the way, you will crush countless reactionary despots who would be king! A whole REGION of new allies opens up, and what could be a giant headache in the world in the future, will be at least be lessened by the Republic's tutelage in the ways of freedom. Also, as you said, since it would take the longest time, best to start now.

The German situation may still happen, in which case obviously send aid. But they may have picked an Emperor of their own aegis, so perhaps it's good the council failed. Germany, both Danubian and Elbian and even Rhinelanden, will be battlegrounds of Europe for quite a time to come. Trying to step into the middle of an all out fight is a bad idea right now. That said, the liberal and historically freedom supporting Throne of Scandinavia deserves some support, especially as they will no doubt try to liberate the Elbians, starting with their former lands. While perhaps you should not send troops to help, war subsidies would help them immensely, once the Italian economy is running. The Bohemians are the great colossus of hatred in Central Europe, try not to miss an opportunity to hit them where it hurts, when you can.

Going after the DM and Aragon now would be not the greatest of moves. The DM already is struggling with rebels - going to war may just solidify people behind their ghastly throne. Rumor is that all the constituent people of the Empire are angry at how things have gone. Secret republican literature flows like water. Just leave them alone, they may implode on their own. If they do, send financial help if the Anglois throne refuses to go without a fight. Freeing the Catalans by itself is not enough because the Spanish throne is also despotic. It would lead anyways into...

The least fruitful option of all, war for Colombia. As the Spanish crown holds onto the rule of Colombia with an iron fist, the only way to truly fight Spain is by engaging them around the world. Something outside Italian resources, at least for the moment. The best way to salvage this would be to build relations with what may become the nascent lodestar upon which a pan-Arcadian nation is built. In the end, Septima, or whatever it is by then, will do the job for you, and for all of us.

2. B

Malta is so small, it can easily be pushed around. Any one actor by any nation would be enough to tilt them towards the reign of reactionaries and despots and tyrants. Even if they are freed as a republic, they will need a permanent garrison. That said, their wishes cannot be ignored. Promise a referendum in 10-20 years.

3. C

What I mean by this is a mixture of both. Only deal with monarchies that are liberal and have a historical record of fighting for freedom, both home and abroad. For sure, even if a democracy, and they have slavery, disdain them. Hold those principles high!

In light of these representatives' advices we allow the vote of option C as defined by the good citizens @A Landy and @IconOfEvi (welcome aboard BTW :p )

1. Great Plans :
B, A, C, D

To bring the light of democracy to the Latin people of the Mediterranean should be our first priority. Those who are harshly oppressed the absolutist kings of Aragon, the Anglois Reactionary and the Provençal Oppressors. With these monarchies, we shall have no mercy and fight as we fought them in the past for our liberty! Not only our brothers in Sardinia and Corsica are dying every day under the rule of the immense Aragonese tyranny, but the Provençal Oppressors and the Anglois Reactionaries, whose rule have been harshly and tyrannically exerted over rightfully free people should also be annihilated! No sisters or brothers will rebel once they have seen the beam of freedom. It may seem hard to imagine, but once we are freed there will be no need for rebelling or arms. If we bring our navy at the same level as our army, there should be no threats. And in the end, our goal will defeat all enemies.

Germania will be the next target of the forces of liberation! Who we fights has no matter, and whether the snake-emperor or the two-faced Burgundian scum are opposed to us we shall defeat them as fiercely. For we have a true cause, while they fight because they are forced to. The home of the revolution will become our best ally and together we will march on in our spree of liberation.

But Etruria, and now Italy, can not rest on it's fight for freedom before the whole of the world is under republican and free rule. No longer shall the poor be under the grip of tyrants and oppressive burgher, no longer shall the land be controlled by the brutal aristocracy! No longer shall the kingdoms be ruled by kings, for they shall not exist when we are finished with our ambitions! No longer shall any religion holds it grip and ruthless words over human-beings! The authoritarian rule needs to be ended, and we can not sit down before we, or our sons, or our grand-sons or great-grand-sons for that matter, have established a new world order! Onwards Italians, onwards Etrurians, onwards and march towards freedom should be the world of ralliement for our armies! They shall sing the national anthem (do you have some sort of Carmagnolesi song?) and march, joined by their brothers. Only death can prevent us from fulfilling this cause, but we shall be stronger than it, for the whole of Italia is ready to join up and march for the liberation!

2. Malta :
A) Let them have their little Republic as long as they stay loyal!

This island will be left free, the Maltese people and be the first of our sisters and brothers to see democracy that can join up in our fight for the light!

3. Principles of the Republic :
A) We stay true to our principles! Death to Reactionaries and Monarchies!

Never we can ally to any of these demoniac tyrannies. The land-owners, rulers and burgers living and directing the countries of the snake-emperor, the two-faced Burgundians, the Anglois Reactionary and the Provençal Oppressors can only be defeated through an armed struggle. Compromising would mean the death of our liberating ambitions, and mean that we accept their world order. We do not! And no man will if he is free to think once we are done with our reforms. These pitiless brutes are our greatest foes and enemies! Never their order which oppressed us for centuries shall be accepted! Once the liberation is executed, not only the reactionaries and monarchies will be our enemies, but rather all rich oppressors! There is no difference between absolutist or false constitutionalists. The only true democratic state is the one of a republic! Those who do not realise this have been blinded by foreign gifts and false promises! But do not worry, we have a solution for them too! Join up in the world-wide revolution and liberation!

Democracy and republics shall be strong again! At all cost, for we have no fears and the revolutionary armies will ultimately win!

EDIT: sad about those attacks. :( Thinking on all the victims and their family and friends as well as those living in the area, I was shocked.

Constitutionally bound figurehead monarchs are no real threat to democratic institutions. By securing an alliance with Burgundy, Italy gains a powerful ally that will most likely assist in taking down its more powerful rivals in the West. In the mean time, the states of the eastern Mediterranean are almost certainly weaker and less developed than those of the west, and they should therefore be dealt with first. The situation in Germany should be allowed to develop - a relatively liberal Germany could arise naturally, and it be a useful ally, but we should develop our sphere of influence in the Mediterranean before venturing north and facing the strong land powers of Central Europe. To this end, Malta should stay under direct Italian administration, at least for now; they would not benefit from autonomy if by granting it to them, we worsened our position.
