I realized that we never really discussed what a Roman Civil War In Völkerschlacht. So I’ve tried to come up with ideas myself, but I haven’t been able to come up with anything unfortunately. I can see Angelos killed off early in a manner similar to OTL Huey Long, causing the Angeloi to disband, but I was wondering what would replace the Angeloi or the American First Union Party in Völkerschlacht, except Neo Maximists of course. Perhaps it would be a four way war between Republicans, Loyalists (under Hugo Doukas obviously), Equalists (Maoist styled one, since I remembered China was socialist in Völkerschlacht) and maybe even traditional Reactionaries/Absolte Monarchists. I think Scandinavia would also be involved somewhere in there too, like how Mexico sometimes gets involved in Kaiserreich’s American Civil War. I don’t know, all I know is that I’d like a Roman Civil War to be unique and not a copy of the main timeline’s Second Roman Civil War, Kaiserreich’s American Civil War, and other similar conflicts in various Alt histories. Any thoughts on possible leaders and figures for Roman Civil War factions? I know you prefer original characters, but for convenience I’d like to figure out which historical characters would best fit Völkerschlacht. I’d be interested in seeing ideas other viewers could come up with, I’d like to hear them. Would you nod if asked @TWR97 what he thinks of my idea, I’d like to discuss it and some other ideas. I’ll try to see if I can flesh this out, through it will take time and possible help from others.
If we have a direct replacement for the Angeloi, we might as well leave the Angeloi in with a different name. Multiple different factions is the way to go.
Those are nice ideas for a unique Roman civil war though, if Zen approves as well, while I can't think of any ideas who would be the leaders (Aside from Hugo Doukas standing in as Ceasar/Cinncinatus come again) the various factions would indeed be the Loyalists, Republicans, Socialists and the Absolutionists, now while I can't think of who will be the leaders for this factions, I think, Ecunemical Patriarch Joseph should be the leader for the Absolutionists, who better way to lead a return to the divine rule of Monarchs than a man of religion himself eh? :p
That sounds really neat.
Also, how’d you like Völkerschlacht‘s Fusang to serve the same role as Kaiserreich’s Canada? It makes sense that the monarchy would escape to Fusang as soon as mainland China turns Communist, through the Ming loyalists would probably butt heads with the Jin dynasty. I can see China’s Southeast Asia territories (mostly Vietnam) being a lot like India, where it will be split between a Ming aligned Tran monarchy, a NUC aligned communist state, and several non aligned states trying to keep independence (like Siam). And then there’s Penglai, which is almost exactly the same as Australia/Australasia in Kaiserreich.:p
There could be an option for Fusang to overthrow the Ming dynasty and restore the Jin dynasty, at the cost of fatally weakening the Sinosphere alliance.
Scandinavia of course will be just like Mexico in the Kaiserreich mod and that they'll be demanding teritorries like Scotland back or face invasion. Now for Tianxia I'm still on board the idea of Victoria Louise as Queen of Prussia and one of the few who can potentially restore the Reich. And of course Patriarch Joseph being the de-facto leader controlling Constantinople, with many options in either helping Victoria Louise restore the Reich, create a Greek nation, or maybe even create a Theocratic state in the Balkans....
Scandinavia would also want to take northwestern Russia, the Baltics, the Pomeranian coast, Frisia, Normandy, England, and even Leon and Andalusia to restore its medieval empire...and then some.
Anyway, while Tianxia will have those playing China find ways to keep the balance of power, Former core Roman territories in Europe will have branching paths on how to reignite the light of Rome and ressirect the imperial eagle be it the way of Meritocracy, Liberal Democracy/Republicanism or even Socialism. Hell, they can even forego the idea of Rome and forge a new identity with a new nation. Even Victoria Louise can have a potential path of becoming the mother of a new German nation.
Meritocracy would probably have been discredited in that timeline as liberal democracy was for the most part in KR. A meritocratic faction might still exist, but it would be a fringe movement with little support.
By the way, I noticed another error in the 2000s update you should look at. It’s really minor and insignificant, but I thought I should point it out before I forgot about it again. I’ll highlight it and say that I think the word “League” should be replaced with “Alliance”. Sorry for bothering you again.
It's fixed.

I really like your ideas there, especially your idea of having the Ecumenical Patriarch leading the Monarchists. Since according to your previous ideas about Osterhild running a democratic Austrian Republic, I was thinking that she or her sisters would at least lead the Liberal Democratic faction in Kaiserreich, if not the Republican movement.

Anyhow I have ideas for Central Asia in Tianxia; since India would likely be a Chinese puppet state (with an even worse deal than the Treaty of Summerkand, going as far as to lose Bengal, which is another Chinnese puppet state), I was thinking that Persia would likely be the regional power there, with roughly the same borders as it had during the medieval period or the Sassanid Empire. Of course, I imagine their would be a Kurdish insurrection in Mesothelioma, since I don’t think they’d be happy under Persian rule, same goes for the Kingdom of Turkestan. I was thinking that the 1918 Kingdom of Turkestan would actually last a bit longer it did in the AAR until 1936, where Persia could absorb the breakaway states into its Empire via focus tree. I think China would’ve proped up the Kingdom of Turkestan as it would be check on Persian expansion initialy, through the Great Depression would cause China’s power projection to decrease and thus likely lose Turkestan.

It would be a very different story in Völkerschlacht, seeing as how Zen has implied India is strong there and would be the leader of a Central Asian faction. Maybe India gained control over Burma, Nepal, Persia and Tibet as well as had its colony, Nusantara, taking the Philippines, the rest of OTL Indonesian lands (excluding Roman colonies) and Papua New Guinea . I’m not sure about Penglai, but I don’t think India would take all of it, maybe just small concessions. Then again, this would probably weaken the Sinosphere too much if we want the Ming exiles to have a chance against the National Union of China, so probably not exactly this. Maybe just ignore my Nusantara comment and we’re good.

She might be a monarchist, but her sister could be a republican. Depending on who comes to power, the faction could go either way.

Persia would probably want to restore the old empire of Shahanshah Yunus, stretching from the Tigris and Euphrates to the Indus (at least in legend if not in fact), but Turkestan would be the biggest rival to its expansion. The two countries would be the major powers in the Middle East and Central Asia, with China (pro-Turkestan) and India (pro-Persia) intervening to expand their own influence there. Turkestan could also choose to rebel against China and go down its own path, restoring either the Ghaznavid Empire or the Timurid domains (Timurids are more likely).

No, Nusantara makes perfect sense. A superpower India could prop up the Ming exiles if they collapse a la German exiles with the Entente.

am I not doing phrasing anymore?

Gottverdammt autocorrect! I swear autocorrect rarely does any sort of correcting I like.

So, what would the history of Rome podcast be like here? I remember @HIMDogson did a interlude based on the history of Rome podcast, where he summaries the Roman historgraphy right up to 1900. I’d like to keep that interlude canon, so I guess that Podcast would go into the Byzantine and Holy Roman Empire periods and continue even up to the contemporary Reich, at least that’s how I see it. That, or there could be different podcasts for each iteration of the Reich, one for the Republic (plus the kingdom) and First Empire, another for the Byzantines and Holy Roman Empire, and finaly one for the Reich’s history covering certain time periods from like the Thirteenth Century Crisis or the Imperial Century. I guess it’s up to you decide which idea suits your boat.

I’ll work on interlude about Studio Ghibli, I might even incorporate that Smash Brothers film series into that somehow, so expect a PM discussion about it soon.

Also, any interludes you've got planned @TWR97 ? I enjoyed your ME interludes and I was wondering if you had any plans for summaries of differnet media. I also rememeber you said you had a mini interlude for media between ME3 and Andromeda and I'm wondering how is that going? I'm just curios.

They'd roughly follow how historians would view the different eras of Roman civilization, from the founding to the kingdom to Republic to the First through the Second and Third Empires, each touching on the different political systems and their legacies on the modern nation and world civilization. Ideally it would focus more on social history and cultural developments than on wars and certain leaders, and place greater importance on women like Wilhelmina and Gunhilda.

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One

Steel Man – Genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist Eddy Hugo, who inherited the multinational defense contractor Hugo Industries from his late father at a young age, is in war-torn Mexico with his friend and military liaison Lieutenant Colonel Jason Rhodes to demonstrate the new "Jericho" missile. After the demonstration, the convoy is ambushed, and Hugo is critically wounded by one of his own company's rocket-propelled grenades, used by the attackers. He is captured and imprisoned in a cave by a terrorist group, the Ten Rings. There, he meets a fellow captive, Hong Yinsen, a doctor from China. Finding shards of shrapnel embedded dangerously close to Hugo’s heart, Hong implants an electromagnet into Hugo’s chest to keep the shards away. The Ten Rings leader, Tochtli, offers Hugo his freedom in exchange for building a Jericho missile for the group, but Hugo and Hong know the terrorists will not keep their word.
The two scientists secretly build a small generator called an arc reactor, which they use to power a suit of powered armor to fight their way out of the cave. The terrorists discover their intentions and attack while Hugo is putting the finishing touches on the suit. Hong sacrifices himself to give Hugo enough time to finish the suit. Putting on the armor, Hugo effortlessly battles his way out of the cave and flies away, destroying his suit when he crashes into the desert, where Rhodes and the Roman military find him.
Returning home to Alexandria, Hugo announces his company will no longer make weapons. Oskar Stein, his father’s old partner and the company’s manager, warns Hugo this may ruin the company and his father’s legacy. Meanwhile, Hugo replaces his arc reactor with an upgraded model and builds a more powerful version of the armor suit. He keeps his work to himself because he is suspicious of Stein.
At a corporate event, Hugo learns Jericho missiles were recently delivered to the Ten Rings and are being used in an attack on a Mexican village where Hong’s Red Cross team is currently treating the sick and wounded. Hugo realizes Stein has been selling weapons to criminals and is plotting to remove him as CEO. He puts on his armor and flies to Mexico, where he saves the doctors and villagers and defeats the terrorists. When Roman fighter jets he had Rhodes call in for an airstrike attack him, he reveals his identity to Rhodes to get them to stop.
Meanwhile, the Ten Rings gather the pieces of Hugo’s prototype suit and give them to Stein, who builds a massive new suit from the wreckage. Seeking to track his company's illegal shipments, Hugo sends his assistant, Penelope Potts, to hack into its database. She discovers Stein hired the Ten Rings to kill Hugo. Potts meets with Agent Phillip Claussen of SHIELD, a Roman intelligence agency, to inform him of Stein’s activities. Claussen deploys a team to arrest Stein.
Stein’s scientists cannot duplicate Hugo’s miniaturized arc reactor, so Stein ambushes Hugo at his home and takes the one from his chest. Before he dies, Hugo manages to get to his original reactor to replace it. Potts and Claussen’s SHIELD team attempt to arrest Stein, but he dons his suit and attacks them. Hugo fights Stein, but is outmatched without his new reactor to run his suit at full capacity. The fight carries Stark and Stane to the top of the Hugo Industries building, and Potts overloads the large arc reactor powering the building. This unleashes a massive electrical surge that disables Stein's armor suit, allowing him to be apprehended. The next day, at a press conference, Hugo defies suggestions from Claussen and publicly admits to being the superhero the press has dubbed Steel Man.
In a post-credits scene, SHIELD Director Nick Fury visits Hugo at home, telling him Steel Man is not "the only superhero in the world", and explaining that he wants to discuss the "Vindicator Initiative".

The Invincible Goliath – Boris Brenner, a scientist trying to recreate a World War II super-soldier experiment, accidentally turns himself into Goliath, a nigh-unstoppable rage monster. Sought after by General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and the Roman military, Brenner flees the country while he tries to find a cure for Goliath.

Steel Man: Armor Wars – Six months after revealing to the world that he is the superhero Steel Man, Eddy Hugo faces down calls from the Roman government to hand over his robot suits while combating the debilitating effects of his arc reactor. Meanwhile, ex-KGB agent turned terrorist Ivan Vanko, who has a grudge against Hugo’s father, acquires Hugo tech on the black market, for which SHIELD sends Agent Natasha Romanova, another former KGB agent trained in the Black Widow program, to infiltrate Hugo Industries. Romanova finds board-member Justin Hammer is selling the technology for profit. Rhodes clashes with an increasingly careless Hugo, culminating in Rhodes stealing a Steel Man suit and fighting Hugo before flying to a nearby Roman military base, where General Ross upgrades the suit and dubs him “War Machine.” Vanko and Hammer attack a Hugo Industries convention using hacked Steel Man drones. While Romanova and Agent Claussen try to protect the fleeing civilians (among them a young Peter Parker) and shut down the drones, Hugo and Rhodes reconcile and fight Vanko, who has built his own armored suit. Hammer is later arrested for his part in the conspiracy. When he arrives in jail, he is accosted by members of the Ten Rings, who says the Mandarin, their mysterious leader, wants to meet him.

Thor – The Norse gods are actually a technologically advanced alien civilization which have been protecting Earth for centuries. After centuries of war with the Jotun frost giants, Odin is poised to sign the final peace treaty. However, his brash son Thor derails the negotiations when he drunkenly attacks Jotunheim. Enraged at his son’s arrogance, Odin strips Thor of his powers and exiles him to Earth. He lands in a small town in Arabia, where he meets Jane Fischer, an ambitious astrophysicist. His hammer, Mjolnir, falls to Earth several miles away and is quickly found by SHIELD, which builds a facility around it as they cannot move it. Thor tries to reclaim the hammer, fighting master archer Kurt “Hawkeye” Barton in the process, but he is not worthy of lifting Mjolnir. He is captured by SHIELD agents led by Phillip Claussen. Meanwhile, Thor’s brother Loki schemes his way to power in Asgard after Odin is incapacitated. Wanting to rule as king, he lets the frost giants into Asgard to kill Odin, uses the Bifrost to destroy Jotunheim, and sends the Destroyer, a powerful robot, to kill Thor. Thor sacrifices himself to protect the town, which proves his worthiness and restores his powers. Fully restored, Thor defeats the Destroyer and returns to Asgard in time to save Odin. However, he is too late to stop the Bifrost from destroying Jotunheim. His plan foiled, Loki attacks Thor, who throws him off the side of Asgard and into space.

Captain Reich: The First Vindicator – In 1942, Steve Rudolf is a sickly young man from Constantinople rejected by military recruiters due to his health, though this doesn’t deter him from showing up at recruiting stations every week. Professor Abraham Erskine Reinstein notices how devoted he is to wanting to serve and asks him to participate in a special experiment to create a super soldier. Steve eagerly agrees, and the experiment, conducted by Reinstein and Heinrich Hugo (Eddy Hugo’s father), transforms him into the patriotic and muscular Captain Reich. Soon after the successful experiment, Angeloi assassins kill Reinstein and destroy his work. As he is shipped off to war, Steve vows revenge. He organizes the Howling Commandos, a team of Resistance fighters and Loyalist soldiers operating behind enemy lines in Angeloi territory, led by Agent Rita Wagner of the Strategic Scientific Reserve and his childhood friend Joseph “Bucky” Burkard. Together, they rescue hundreds of prisoners of war, including Bucky, from Hydra, a sinister organization using the Angeloi as a front for their world domination plans led by the equally sinister Black Skull, who uses the Tesseract, an Asgardian relic, to power his advanced weapons. As Steve leads the Loyalists to victory and liberates towns across Europe, he grows close to Rita, and Rita reciprocates, as he was the only one who truly recognized her talents and treated her as an equal member of the team. In the final battle, Rita and Bucky lead the Howling Commandos in an assault on Hydra’s main headquarters in the Alps. Bucky sacrifices himself to blow up the headquarters, while Steve pursues Black Skull, who has departed on a bomber headed for Constantinople. Steve defeats Black Skull and apparently vaporizes him with the Tesseract, but the bomber crashes in the mountains, and he is presumed dead. As the war ends, Rita and the surviving Howling Commandos mourn his death. Meanwhile, Steve wakes up in what appears to be an SSR facility, and a young SSR agent introduces herself as “Diana Sharon Wagner.” He soon realizes something is wrong and escapes the facility, finding himself in modern day Vienna. Nick Fury approaches him about a “Vindicators Initiative.”

The Vindicators – Loki, after being thrown off Asgard, assembles an army to conquer Earth. He first attacks a SHIELD facility and steals the Tesseract, brainwashing Hawkeye and several agents into doing his bidding. Director Nick Fury activates the Vindicators Initiative. Natasha Romanova recruits Boris Brunner. Phillip Claussen visits Eddy Hugo, and Fury tasks Steve Rudolf with retrieving the Cosmic Cube. Rudolf, Hugo, and Romanova confront and capture Loki in Stuttgart, with Thor arriving to take him home but agreeing to imprison him on the SHIELD helicarrier. They argue over how to approach Loki, but then Hawkeye and Loki’s possessed minions attack. Loki kills Claussen and escapes. Claussen’s death motivates the Vindicators into working as a team. Just then, Loki uses the Cosmic Cube to open a portal above Constantinople through which an alien fleet invades. The Vindicators arrive and defeat Loki’s alien minions, while Goliath pummels Loki into submission before turning him over to Thor to face justice in Asgard. The city is saved. The Vindicators go their separate ways, with Fury remarking they make a good team.

As you can see, not much has changed from the regular Phase 1, but I didn't want to throw out several pages of content. Rest assured Phase 2 will be vastly different. Still debating if I should post Phase 3 as it's in a similar situation as Phase 1 and half the summaries are still jokes right now.

Aside from a few name and cosmetic changes (Especially Black Skull, haw! I love that one), Phase One's not so much different alright, I like that idea of a young Peter Parker being included btw, while I myself always found that theory far fetched, in terms of the Hohenzollernverse, there's bound to be less uhhhh, copyright shenanigans. I'm hoping this version of Into the Spiderverse has good old Tugboat Maguire at least, I always found Peter B to be the Maguire Spidey, with a few alterations. Can't wait for the phase two summaries.

I know this is similar to OTL, but I appreciate this update. I’m looking forward to see what you have for phase 2.:)

As for phase 3, maybe you could post the serious outlines and incorporate details from r/fixingmovies? They disscus Marvel a lot there. It’s your decision, I hope I’m helpful through.

For the record, I want to point out that the Thanoscopter technically was in Endgame, from a certain point of view.:p I actually think I talked about this awhile ago, but I deleted that post for spoilers on your request. Well now you can rest assured that Thanoscopter made it into Endgame.....
Kind of.:D

I’m still disappointed that the meme theory regarding Antman and Thanos’ podex didn’t make it into the movie, but can you do.:(
At least Marvel is re-releasing Endgame with an end credits scene, so we’ve still got that.

Also I just remembered that in HOI3 there was a city in the Balkans called Fredrick Augustin. I was wondering what is that city like, especially after all the battles fought there during WW2? I’m also curious what province did it replace in game, since it obviously has to have replaced a vanilla city from the game. I suppose it was built in universe by German settlers in the fifthteenth century, hence the name. Maybe it would be a mix between a traditional Slavic, German and Greek city in terms of culture and architecture, like most of the Balkans I imagine. Man did I really ask a lot about a minor town, I had a curiosity about this in the back of my head during the HOI3 chapters, so I thought now would be the time to ask about it.

I though Feige himself confirmed that theory, even if they can't outright confirm it right now.

Haven't seen Into the Spiderverse, but if I were to write a summary, I'd definitely try to include the Maguire and Garfield Parkers.

I already have a couple summaries done, but most are very similar to the actual movies and the rest don't even have serious outlines, as by then I already moved on to the TV shows. I might still post it because I really don't want to delete several pages of content.

Hopefully we beat Avatar!

I kind of forgot that city existed, particularly what city it replaced. All I did was go into the file with province names and rename the cities all at once, so I don't remember what it replaced. It would probably have a mix of Slavic, German, and Greek cultures as it is on the border between the three cultural spheres.

Not much as changed, but I'm happy we're getting this. I like the earlier introduction to Peter Parker, that's nice.

The main thing I have going for these summaries are the different title names. I did away with Iron Man's numbered sequels as Marvel Studios is more confident here trying something different with superhero movies.

Edit: Although I just noticed I still called the Cosmic Cube the Tesseract in some places.

Although I just noticed I still called the Cosmic Cube the Tesseract in some places.
I mean, Cosmic Cube does work interchangeable with Tesseract, that is what it is after all. Through I have to ask, does that mean the Infinity Stones are Infinity Gems here like in the Comics?

Also, what do you think of these outlines for future Marvel phases in the 2020s here and here? They're not perfect, but I thought they would be intresting enough for you to view them. Any ideas you can imagine (doesn't have to be outlines) that'd you see in phase 4 and beyond in TTL's MCU?

I was originally intending to have the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube take after the comics version more than the movies and had Thanos have his comic motivations (before I learned about the changes to his character in the movie). But I dropped that in Phase 2. They'll still be called Infinity Stones.

Really like the Phase 4 ideas, but I'm definitely not touching Phase 4, given I can't even finish Phase 3.

@CaptainAlvious On that Mass Effect after trilogy interlude, you can expect it in the coming days as after browsing several fanfics have made me decide to add in more entries for the Mass Effect works, kinda like an expanded universe thing like our timeline's Star Wars. Plus if Zen allows it, I MIGHT do a Godzilla/Kaiju Cinematic Universe, still can't come up what the Chinese alternative names for the Showa and Heisei eras (Probably for the Millenieum/Reiwa era too). Plus an outline on how the Monsterverse might proceed (My outline has the events mostly lay out the same before it converges on a crossover movie, essentially Godzilla vs Kong, while Skull Island will be produced by Rome's Legendary pictures while the two Godzilla films will be by TTL's Toho)

Sound good, I think Zen would like Godzilla interludes, so you can go ahead if that idea if you wish. I’ll look forward to it.:)

Currencies of the two Reichs

Coins have the Hohenzollern coat of arms instead of the second portrait. Konrad Adenauer and Klemens von Metternich are the only two non-Hohenzollerns currently depicted on official currency, though there is growing public support to replace Sigismund II on the 20 mark bill with Abraham Green.

A bit of a brief interruption in the MCU summaries, as I forgot I had this in my contents and wanted to make it an official lore update. I'll be posting Iron Man 3 next.

though there is growing public support to replace Sigismund II on the 20 mark bill with Abraham Green.
Isn’t that whole thing about MLK replacing Jackson on the 20 dolor bill related to the fact that Andrew Jackson is a controversial (what with his Indian Removal Act) and morally dubious figure by today’s standards, hence the call to replace him with the less controversial Martin Luther King Jr? Not sure what problem Romans would have Sigismund.

Otherwise, not too bad. I would’ve liked to have seen Nikephorus somewhere there, but I’m still glad Friedrich Augustin IV got the recognition he deserves (through I’d prefer Friedrich Augustin III since he was actually the one who codified the Augustinian Code).:)

I have to say through, wouldn’t putting Napoleon on an Annon be like putting Konrad von Hapsburg on a mark? It’s been awhile since I read the Annionaverse, so I’m kinda confused about that.

I would like to see more cultural updates from the Annionaverse, with Dragoon’s consent of course. It’s interesting to learn more about the Annionaverse and I think it’d be nice to get some Annionaverse lore on the table of contents. Maybe you can describe the Provinces and the series of colonies/dominions/puppet states under the HRE?

There are currently plans to replace Jackson with Harriet Tubman, and they were approved last I heard, but for some reason they haven't done it yet.

The source material that inspired the Annionaverse arc did have MLK replacing Jackson.

There are only so many bills to go around.:p

The postwar Holy Roman Empire claims Napoleon as one of its own instead of as a breakaway leader to promote and legitimize the new pan-European empire.

totally not an oversight as it's been a while since I read too

Unfortunately, the only other piece of Annionaverse lore I wrote were their equivalent of the MCU and DCEU. The DCEU lore has now been folded into the Hohenzollernverse DCEU, while the Annionaverse MCU is a list of titles that are pretty much jokes (an Aunt May and even worse Fant4stic movie among them). I don't want to touch too much on the Annionaverse lore because there a significant possibility I could contradict Dragoon's lore at some point. I already pushed the limits with the consequences of Walter's actions dramatically affecting life in the Annionaverse, and I don't want Dragoon to come out and consider the Annionaverse as depicted here another universe with the same premise and not the "real" Annionaverse, as being the "real" Annionaverse is incredibly crucial for Stellaris.
