[OFFICIAL INFORMATION] The future of Runemaster

Hi everyone,

I have some news to share with you today regarding Runemaster. After much internal debate we have made the decision to freeze development of the project until further notice and move the development team working on it to other projects within Paradox Development Studio.

This was not an easy decision to make - Runemaster was a very ambitious project for us, and the team working on it brought all of their passion, dedication, and talent to the table. Despite our best efforts and a couple of re-scopes, Runemaster in its current form was unable to live up to the standards we set for ourselves here at Paradox.

Runemaster was a different type of game for us, and even though we were not able to fully realize our vision for it, we will take the lessons we learned to heart as we move forward with new endeavors. We will also look into how we can re-use the best parts of the game in other ways.

Our aim is to let all the talented developers who worked on the project to remain with Paradox Development Studio and bring their expertise to the other great games currently in development.

That sucks, but most of us saw it coming unfortunately.

Even if I don't accepted the panic on the other thread (especially with bad compares to non-PDS games).

I hope we will have to chance to see it contuine somewhere in the future. The project looked great.

 

This saddens me immensely. I had such great hopes for this game. I assume that frozen is being used euphemistically and I should hold no real hope for a thawing?

Is it at all possible to know where each of the Runemaster Devs are going? Are they being split amongst the other already existing Dev teams or are they just moving as a team onto a different project?

No. He should kill the Elfs. This is a great plot and conspiracy by the Elfs. It's there fault that the game is frozen.

 

Its mostly a split among/reinforcing other existing teams

My sympathies to those who worked on it.
I was looking forward to playing it, I love your regulars like EU,HOI,VIC and CK but I really hope this doesnt put you off trying new titles in the future.

 

Very much a shame to see this project shelved and share the hope this doesn't put PDS off from branching out into other areas of the gaming market in the future.

 

sad to see another project not finish was exited for it

 

We are all working on different projects now, for example CKII, EUIV and HoI4. I hope we'll be able to work together on another project soon, it was great while it lasted.

 

I was really looking forward to seeing your take on an RPG.

On the plus side it looks like podcat has got himself some new minions!

 

Thank you for not having launched an unfinished game. For us customers, it could have been far worse : a paid early access.

I really hope you will again try such an experience in the future.

 

A dark day. I do however have hope that the experience gained will be put to good use, in other games, and in the future if they ever decide to make a new RPG.

You failed to see the truth. And look now who was correct, while I enjoy being right usually but this time I wished I was wrong.

 

I never really posted here, but I did occasionally pop in to see how this game was looking. Too bad to hear that the game has fizzled out. If there is a silver lining, hopefully the people that were working on this project can now help other games PDS is working on be even better.
