Cheers to you all!

A similar thread like this exists here for Germany, but now my quest for information is a bit more difficult. Can you give me accurate names in Japanese (not in the japanese characteres, mind you) for my groups of:

- Fighter wing
- Tac Bomber wing
- Battlegroup (for the SHBB and BB's)
- Air battlegroup (or something similar for my carrier fleet)
- Regular Army (infantry)
- Mountainners army
- Marines
- and finally garrisons

I know it's alot, but perhaps some of you know something of Japanese or maybe one of you come from the rising sun country?

Thanks in advance

(p.s.: Searching the net for translators, I just got the direct translation of English to Japanese characteres. If any can point out a good on-line translation service, I would search those names myself)

Do you mean you want some generic names?

- Fighter wing
Hikou Dai # Sentai (Army)
Dai # Koukuutai (Navy)

- Tac Bomber wing
Dai # Baku Geki Kitai (in practice bomber units were not distinguished from fighters by name)

- Battlegroup (for the SHBB and BB's)
Dai # Kantai (historically the battleships were in the 1st Fleet, considered the Kessen Kantai)

- Air battlegroup (or something similar for my carrier fleet)
Dai # Koukuu Sentai
or Kidou Butai (the carrier task force of the IJN)

- Regular Army (infantry)
Dai # Shidan

- Mountainners army
None in the old IJA, but foreign mountain troops are called Sangaku Shidan

- Marines
Dai # Rikusentai

- and finally garrisons
Sorry can't find any references to this

Actually Garrison unit can be called "Kyoudo Bouei Tai" (郷土防衛隊, "Defense Corps of the Homeland" or "Home Guard"), thus you may use "Dai # Kyoudo Bouei Tai". However, this type of military organisation was first suggested in Japan in 1955, and I think the plan was never in use.

"Kempeitai" (憲兵隊, "Corps of Military Police") was in Japanese Army System from 1881 to 1945, and they sometimes do act as a garrison unit I think (consider the garrison of Liberia is Military Police), but they are (im)famous for propaganda, ration and other sort of things. So this may not be the best name though. :(

I hope these information can provide you with enough information for that. ;)

yes there are.

this is where I took this
