Long Live the Republic
A Mixed Mod AAR

IOVEDiL.jpg
Hello all! This will be my first ever AAR, so apologies in advanced if it isn't very good. This will be an AAR of a Democratic Germany using the Mixed Mod to add a lot of flavor. This Germany will have a liberal agenda, trying to get in leftist legislation. But, when the people are unhappy, they will try anything to loose dissent, and the same terms on the economic front. Note: This first post will just be the regular some 3rd person text and images. By next post I'll hope to have dialogue and such. I hope everybody enjoys!

The time has come for the elections to be decided. The leftists fought long and hard against Hitler and the NSDAP. But, only the votes can tell us who has won the elections.
0UNyJep.png

But, before the election results could finally be announced German politics have taken a very unexpected turn. A coup, most likely led by President Otto Meissner, has made himself Chancellor, and several cabinet positions have been switched over to other (supposed) conspirators. Ergo, with the "March Coup" elections have been called off. Hitler's and his missing cabinet member's whereabouts are unknown. Most agree that they were killed.

The coup, like many others, is very unpopular with the people. Although, most do not take any actions. But, in Nuremberg and Munich pro-NSDAP rioters have filled the streets and occupied the cities.

With the riots now ended, the new "March" government can now focus on advancing the technology of the nation. One of the more interesting areas they focused on was the development of rocket testing and development, with Messerschmitt being contracted to do the research.
w0L7LJj.png

Fittingly, once the Munich riots ended the battleship "Deutschland" had finished being constructed.
Feo0HHr.png

The government, fearing substantial revolts across Germany has invested funds into it's police force.
blKaUAA.png

Along with that, in order to rebuild the nation, funding has also gone into education.
gjTwS6C.png

Even more reform has popped up, with funding going into the public health area.
Q6txk86.png

Now with the nation under control, the new government has launched several diplomatic missions abroad to sustain new relations with the various nations of Europe and Asia.
JPN9KMr.png

The German government has taken a 2,000 credit loan in order to invest into various areas of the nation.
aGffoxg.png

The entire loan has gone into a National Development Plan.
aEGTnBA.png

With dissent still high among the populace, tax reform has created a low national tax.
n76fGio.png

The government also took one of the most important steps into making a great nation; choosing a new flag.

UNfYoHF.png

With the success of the American New Deal, the government has switched from the harsh austerity measures taken before to a stimulus package.
bfe3E24.png

The investment into the police force is a success.
bbPHs2g.png

Many Germans hope to win the Fifa World Cup.
cpoX1wZ.png

The National Development Plan is a success.
kQ8Cjde.png

The government has further invested into national infrastructure.
MB9bBcP.png

The German government has shook Europe. They have sent troops to enter the Rhineland. This is a monumental step for Germany, many patriots say this will show the European powers that once again, Germany is powerful.
HKjBZ9v.png

The French are the most shaken by the news. They demand Germany to send back their troops, but Germany is not having it. They have been invigorated with nationalism, and will not back down.
sVntD2f.png

The German people are joyous with the re-militarization of the Rhineland. Similar to the government, they have also been invigorated with nationalism.
QKtddPx.png

German intelligence has failed to stop the Americans from stealing blueprints. It has been leaked to the public, and many joke that the nation has gotten so great that now the U.S. needs to feed off of them.
Xp2fqke.png

The investment in infrastructure has given out favorable results.
aAsAwLO.png

Another ship, this time the Nürnberg, can be deployed.
Losxfnb.png

Germany and Nationalist China have created a friendship between the two nations, but to the dismay of Japan.
XY6OuM4.png

A bank run has occurred nationally in Germany. This is very worrying for the German government and people.
VSzRcF8.png

The German government has decided to adopt an unconventional monetary policy in order to boost back up the economy.
MDznpYz.png

The German people might absolutely hate it, but the German government has decided to completely pay back their war reparations. Ever since the re-militarization of the Rhineland many Germans have thought their nation has an unstoppable beast, but in fact, the nation isn't. The economy is still horrid and there's now manpower to build more troops. It's only by agreeing to the harsh actions of the Allies the German people might once again live in a Superpower.

In order to deal with the manpower shortage, the government has started a recruitment campaign for the next half year.
ttkESsx.png

Messerschmitt has finally finished their research on rocket science. The government will continue to research on secret weapons.
QyWstZx.png

The Autobahn has been built! Many see this as a start for the future of a great German economy. Infrastructure will be great across all corners of the country, many hope.
FDo8cW0.png

Of course, you will need to issue a thousand funds here and there in order to achieve that goal.
fMc6XiI.png

Not wanting to completely isolate themselves from the rest of Europe (and Japan) another several diplomatic missions have been sent out. Some say many more will be sent, in order to gain relations with the Powers of Europe, for secretive purposes...
N3cb9TA.png

The unconventional monetary policy has seemed to succeed in it's goal to have a functioning economy. Now, with more investor confidence Germany might be able to achieve it's goals of a great economy. And this is where the first year of the new March Government ends. A coup in March, the end of the Nazis, the Rhineland being re-militarized, and a promising future for the German economy. Yes, Germany has gone through many changes within a year. What will the future hold? We can only find out next time on Long Live the Republic! A Mixed Mod AAR.

In the last AAR about German republic, author was annexed by Soviets somewhere in 1942.Im hope you have a more skills and luck to restore German glory.

The government has continued with the Staatliche Entwicklungsprogramme and is now investing into infrastructure.

eALcYuX.png

The recruitment campaign that started in October of 1933 is a success, with the country actually having some manpower for once.

eG8jc7y.png

The government has continued to build the Autobahn, this being one of the bigger successes of the Staatliche Entwicklungsprogramme.

Kabul, Afghanistan
May 1, 1934

dr-_fritz_grobba.png

Dr. Fritz Grobba, Former German Consul in Kabul

It was a warm day in Kabul. The German delegation was on their break in the Gardens of Babur, close to the embassy. The small delegation made out of Former Consul Dr. Fritz Grobba, current ambassador Kurt Max Paul Ziemke, and various diplomats. Eventually, a few luxury cars pulled up at the closest road and the delegation got in. The cars drove them to the Arg, the Presidential Palace. The Afghan flag flew onto of the impressive building.

Once inside, the Italian delegation was on their way to the conference room. The German delegation tagged along, socializing with the Italians, until they entered the room. The floor had a large velvet carpet which stretched the entire room. A chandelier was on the ceiling, lighting up the room. In the center was a large oak table, and various plush chairs were on either side.

The Afghani delegation was about the same size as the two European ones. About half a dozen people would represent Afghanistan in the meeting. Among them was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faiz Muhammad Khan Zikeria, Prime Minister Mohammad Hashim Khan, and King Mohammed Zahir Shah.

"Hello, my majesty" Dr. Grobba said, bowing and shaking the King's hand. "We have much to talk about..."

By the end of the meetings over the next few days the Italians, Germans, and Afghans came to an agreement. Both Italy and German would send aid to Afghanistan, and help Afghanistan modernize, starting in 1935. With that German and Italian workers would be able to come to Afghanistan, under an official government program.

"To Afghanistan, Germany, and Italy!" Dr. Grobba said, holding up his wineglass at the party the King organized.

"To Afghanistan, Germany, and Italy!" everybody else said, holding up and clinking their glasses.

"Chancellor Meissner...?"

"Yes, Minister Hindenburg?"

"Reports have come in of...of..."

"Spit it out, Oskar!"

"Um...I think you should read this"

*Chancellor Meissner reads through papers in a folder*

"The British did WHAT?!?!"

"Yes...I know sir"

"Leak it to the press."

"But wh-"

"This is comedy gold"

Germany has gotten the bronze. It is still quite good that Germany has gotten this far.

JNmtIU1.png

Seeing the success of the last campaign, and still in desperate need of manpower, the government has launched a second recruitment campaign.

s0x3k9c.png

There have been advancements with encryption in Germany. This could be very useful in the future.

3JjlLNA.png

German unemployment levels have fallen to 5%! The German people are now working, and leading the way to a powerful Germany.

AIDYj3S.png

Hindenburg has died. This man came into power when no one else would. He stopped the nation from falling apart. Now, he is dead. The German people mourn this loss.

49SLDbH.png

The news spread across Europe. In his Dutch home, Former Kaiser Wilhelm II was shocked. He had been in exile for over a decade. He wanted to visit the grave of this man. And after intense negotiations the Last Kaiser returned home. He payed his respects to Hindenburg. But, the German government offered him a deal he could not refuse. He could move into Germany, wit his whole family, have a big mansion, all for free. But, he would't be jobless. He, would go around the world and represent Germany's interests. And even though he never will regain the title of Kaiser, he will represent Germany. Had become an unofficial ambassador and Head of State.

4c3Mx2x.png

It has been over a year since the March coup. Now, with the nation under control, the economy booming, and good diplomatic ties across Europe. Chancellor Meissner has called an election. He has called a shift to the left. And he's running for re-election.

MnVO1dY.png

His first priority is to hold a campaign rally.

5Xt2SBS.png

Even though the Chancellor is an independent, a center-right leaning party, the Centre Party (with 70 seats in the Bundestag) has officially endorsed Meissner.

hr454Wi.png

It seems like the Chancellor isn't the best at speeches.

fkzf5XV.png

Even though he's not the best at speeches, he's good at hosting public events.

It's a success!

Nice AAR, reminds me of an old Democratic Germany AAR, hope this doesn't end up like that one though. But uh, you might want to remove the Swastikas, I'M 99.5 percent sure those aren't allowed (along with SS).

The government has continued working with construction companies to hire workers for public works projects.

Mussolini has continued with his fascist policies and has declared war on Abyssinia. Many saw their army is incompetent, and it doesn't help with no one backing them expect the puppet government in Albania. Even wit the doubts of many, the government will be watching the war carefully.

After major disagreements between the SPD coalition and the German National People's Party coalition (soon after the March Coup the Nazi Party dissolved; with many going to the DNVP. The more "centrist" and conservative members of the party soon left, joining the German Centre Party or re-founding the "German Conservative Party". With so much support, the DNVP managed to retake Hitler's claim in the Reichtag) in deadlock, ever since the elections in 1934, no bills can be passed. Street fights between the Communists and the DNVP have become very common. Many police forces in major cities have become overworked with the skirmishes. And even members of the Stahlhelm have resumed fighting.

With this, Chancellor Meissner has threatened resignation. And on June 29 he did. This came as a shook to the nation. The fighting between the Communists and the DNVP grew worse. Munich neighborhoods were practically being run by thugs from the party. Chief of Staff Ludwig Beck became the de facto interim Chancellor...

Paris, France
July 12, 1935

*knock on Meissner's hotel door*

"Yes...come in"

*Beck enters*

"I've been expecting you" Meissner said, turning around to Beck.

"Oh, you have your own spies, too?" Beck said with a grin.

"Oh of course" Meissner chuckled "You can't have any position in Germany without a few spies at hand...come, sit with me"

Beck following him to the private patio. Meissner sat down in one of the two chair. Beck sat in the other. The view was gorgeous from there, with the twinkling Paris lights in the middle of the night. It almost make them forget how Germany was in ruins.

"You need to come back" Beck said. "Germany is in ruins...we can call a Reichtag election, and things will be under control."

"But will it?" Mesinner replied starring up into the night sky. "The DNVP could win anytime. And that would be the end of my chancellorship"

"Yes...but, the SPD also has a big chance of winning. Many believe that very many KPD voters will vote for the SPD in order to avoid the DNVP winning. At this point they don't care about some German Worker's Republic. They care about surviving"

"But remember, practically the whole NSDAP will be voting for the fascist bastards! You know how many votes they would receive in an election!"

Beck got up. and left for the door. Meissner sighed and followed. Before Beck left he handed Meissner a slip of paper. It had a Paris address. "I have an informant in the city. If you decide to come back, go there. He'll recognize you, and he has arranged for you to come to the Pomeranian Coast. You can leave by the 14th. I hope to meet you there."

Pomeranian Coast
July 15
12 AM

Beck stood by the waves as they splashed around the shore line. All around him smelled like salt. The moon was raised high. As he stood, he could hear more splashing. The splashing seemed to come from a small, dark object over in the distance. Slowly, the object came closer, and you could see more detail. The object had two silhouettes aboard it. Next, you get a better look of the shape. It looked like a row boat. Then, you could see the silhouettes with something in their hands. It was propelling the row boat. Finally, it came to shore. Meissner stepped out, and looked at Beck's smiling face.

"Quite the system you got there, Beck"

"Yes" Beck replied, steeping towards the other man and giving him 100 marks. "They do the job well, just gotta pay them."

"How are we going to get to Berlin?"

"Glad you asked. We're going to take a few cars back. And then, we'll be in Berlin. The Reichtag will easily accept you taking back the position of Chancellor. And, you'll have to give a speech tomorrow announcing the elections."

Government forces in a Munich building after a bomb, most likely set off by a DNVP partisan, went off. Many of the partisan leaders escaped to Austria and Italy (similar to the Nazi leaders after the Munich Coup and Uprising)

Even with the emergency elections last year, the regular elections will continue in 1936. Chancellor Meissner has decided not to run again. This has created a big void within the government with who will take up the challenge of becoming the next Chancellor. Many voters of Meissner are very right-wing or conservative. Fears have come up that DNVP could win the elections. An uneasy alliance has been made between the SPD and the KPD. The German people have become more radicalized since 1933, and the KPD gets the upper hand in the alliance, with Ernst Thälmann running for Chancellor. Many SPD voters are very unhappy with this. But, Thälmann has recently made a speech saying how "we, the left, whether from the KPD or the SPD, or any other party will work together as one, to build upon this nation, and make it even greater!"

10bVQDU.png

Thälmann had decided to hold a major campaign rally in Berlin.

6yLqYEH.png

Many swing voters, who's political beliefs lay between the SPD and the KPD have endorsed Thälmann.

Germany has continued to expand their relations with Europe. This time with Yugoslavia, with economic support. Yugoslavia hasn't been in the best condition since the recent Italian sanctions.

Z14L8ha.png

A big strike has occurred in Potsdam, Thälmann has decided to take advantage of the situation, to win the workers' vote, and has decided to negotiate with the leaders.

R8oJUaA.png

Negotiations have failed. This has come to a big surprise to many in Germany. Some say the DNVP has bribed the strike leaders, or how the leader might be a DNVP voter.

MuVGWgT.png

In a speech,Thälmann has failed to captivate the attention of the crowd.

Oetj42v.png

With campaign funding, Thälmann has held a military parade in Hanover.

On June 3, the election results have come in. The KPD-SPD coalition has won the elections. Ernst Thälmann has been elected as Chancellor.

Recently, news came in that Wilhelm II died in a London car crash. His chauffeur couldn't stop the breaks in time when a speeding car came in front of them. He was rushed to the closest hospital. At the early morning hours of June 7, 1936 former Kaiser, Wilhelm II was announced dead at the age of 77. His ribs were broken, and the doctors couldn't save him in time. He was surrounded by his family, and the best doctors of London had taken care of him. Like his will said, his tomb is in display in the Kaiser Friedrich Mausoleum. A memorial was arranged, and the royalty of Europe payed their respects. Most notably, George V came. Where his own father's tomb sits. German Crown Prince Wilhelm has accepted to become a German diplomat. But, with the new KPD-SPD government an official head of state has been put into office; writer and KPD party member, Ludwig Renn.

RhEAyUq.png

The government has chosen to send materials and volunteers to the dismay of the Allies and the populous
